Transfers The Summer Transfer Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Absolutely

I remember reading some of the reports and quotes when he took part in his first few training sessions and it read like a proper ‘George Weah’s cousin’ moment

What the fuck has gone on here

Was it 12m for which we've had our pants pulled down ?

The ‘fucking dick’ has to be fired surely

I just never understood this fucking transfer at all. It’s not like he was some potential uber starlet, he was just your common as muck, big lump no.9 with absolutely zero special about him. There’s thousands of them in England. Dozens in our academy for free. Why go to South America, pay a few million and waste a non HG spot potentially?

Just nuts.

Alistair Gold was saying how impressed everyone was with Veliz’s finishing after the first few weeks. Let’s not exaggerate . It hasn’t worked but he’s not Ali Dia.

Veliz looked good when he first arrived, but the injury set him back and then a couple deflating loan moves appear to have broken him in some way. I definitely feel like we fumbled his development by not truly committing to his development in house- as with many others.

It’s not like the club owns teams in other competitive leagues where they can be reliably sent for development. I know we have partnerships, but something more concrete might be something for Levy to look at. City and Chelsea appear to be doing this very effectively in recent years.

If we want these "generational talent" players that come through with massive hype every few years to start fulfilling their potential they need to be given meaningful first team minutes once they're hitting 20. You can make an argument for loaning a teenager but if you've made the call that a 20-22 year old is not good enough for your side and you can't find a club playing in a comparable level to your league to loan them to then they should be moved on ASAP while their hype factor is still high. Pointless letting them sit in the reserves til they're 23 and releasing them for nothing. The likes of Devine, Phillips, Donley really need decisions made, give these guys game time when we can afford to and see what they do playing first team football, so many young players go up several levels lightning fast when exposed to the elite senior game.
Agree totally- would love to see them all get a chance here, or sent to serious loans.

There were reports with staff being underwhelmed by his ability very early on

I’ve no reason to start lying on the internet …. I’ve no agenda against the player personally

He then went out on loan where he didn’t get a look in and now he’s being sent home

So it’s fairly evident there was some truth in those commentaries

Sending him to La Liga onto a totally shit team was a horrible idea- he needed more time in champo with a real progressive tactics manager.

He prob left Argentina a season or two too early as well.

Is it cynical to suggest that Levy was perhaps trying a bit too hard to procure more Argentine talent in order to continue maximizing on the Argentina-Spurs connection?

Maybe it was the best we could do ? Reasonable to suggest there weren’t too many takers and sending him to a Spanish team might’ve helped him settle… they were ‘a shit team’ yet still not getting game time is hardly auspicious

It does appear he just isn’t good enough … happens more often than not

What’s strange was paying so much money for him

I’m taking Mbuemo out and swapping in Semenyo, not just because Mbuemo looks ManU bound, but because I think there’s more potential upside with Semenyo. His underlying XG/XA are very similar to Mbuemo, and unlike Mbuemo, Semenyo is not a pen taker. Semenyo is two footed, better 1v1 and works his nuts off without the ball. Needs to improve his actual output, but that is doable with his skill set.

I’ll stick Simons on the list too as he’s good and we’ve been linked.
