That MF of Anderson and Locatelli would do very nicely.

They can’t be the only CMs out there though.

Also wonder if Rodrygo is available again. If City are getting Semenyo then his dream destination is gone. If the Lewis family are serious, that’s the level they need to aim for.
Locatelli is so silky on the ball, but he can also defend at a high level...great reading of the game and he's pretty robust despite his skinny-looking frame. He's a much better version of Bentancur basically.

Anderson would be the added muscle, but the kid can also play. Plus he's only 23 and he's English.

Only examples anyway, but like you said, them names are the level we need to go after. No more Odobert, Tel, Archie, Richy & co.

Archie? He’ll be fine, just needs time.

You can't know he'll be fine mate. He probably could be steady that much we can extrapolate but theres zero certainty he makes elite.
Exactly, he's showed nothing even remotely close to elite potential. But he plays for us and our recruitment geniuses say he's the next big thing, so kid's gotta be special eh.

Similar logic applies to another few younguns in that squad.

But then again so many claim Romero is a world class CB.

Yeah, can't be 100%, but when he fills out, I reckon he'll be close to the top. I like a lot of what I've seen (obvs not the finished product), but he's only going to be as good as his experience provides and he's going to need a lot more game time to get there.

EDIT: should probably temper my expectations, though, we have only had one breakthrough player (Kane) since I started following.

If you look at teenage CMs in the Prem and tbh Europe, he’s ahead of almost all of them in terms of PL impact and experience.

Development isn’t linear, just look at Mainoo who was ahead of every teenage CM in the country…but all Gray needs to do is continue his current trajectory and he’s on track to be elite. Thats not being hyperbolic or gassing him up too much bet there’s a lot of work and luck involved in continuing his trajectory but it’s not crazy to say that he looks like one who’s going to be really good.

Watch the Liverpool game back for example, his defensive positioning and impact on the game was really good. Somehow Frank decided to keep Bentancur on who was doing nothing defensively or offensively but Gray still made several very important interceptions and clearances

I'm with you.

Love Poch but his career gone downhill after he left us. PSG was a mistake, but friggin Chelsea...that's unforgivable. And now the USMNT.

Will always respect what he achieved here, but going back would be yet another own goal by the cunts upstairs.
Disagree. Hung out to dry by us and chelsea. PSG was an egostical dressing room. Id have him back next season. Tbh i think USA will do quite well in world cup.

You want impact, the window we need is: Goalie. LB. CM x 2. LW. CF.

Just an example of what we could do, being the 9th richest club and all that.

Unai
Djed Kev Micky Dimarco
Locatelli Anderson
Kudus LWB Marmoush
Ramos

That squad climbs up the table and finishes top 4-5, I have zero doubt. A solid keeper who can play, a reliable if less shiny RCB, a hardworking LB with tekkers, the new Pirlo, the English Kimmich, the new Mo Salah, a CF who can bang them in.

Unai Simon is worth 25-30 mil...Inter or AC would pay that for Vicario.

Dimarco would cost 40 odd mil...you'd recoup at least half by selling Udogshit. Be nice to finally have an Italian LB who gives a shit, fights for the team, can cross, score. I'd also ask Inter on the off chance about a Romero for Bastoni swap...

Locatelli is a 40-50 mil buy. Anderson (or Wharton, Scott...) is in the 60-70 mil range minimum with the old English tax. A proper big club would pay that without blinking. Especially as you'd recoup at few bobs selling the racist and dare I say even Pape. Also, Bissouma's wages will be off the books soon and Palhinha's too, unless those cunts upstairs decide to sign him on a permanent.

Worth asking City about Marmoush on loan with option/obligation. Or we could stop pretending and finally act like a big club and sign Yildiz for 70 mil, knowing Juve might be keen to lower the price if we sent them Odobert and/or Tel the other way.

Tell PSG thanks for Muani, but could we swap for a CF who actually knows where the goal is. How we went for Kolo over Ramos is ridiculous. Surely with the WC around the corner Ramos wants to play week in week out, even for a lesser club than PSG where Enrique hates him.

LWB, yes, that's my curveball. What is it Fergie used to say...if you're good enough, you're old enough? Kid has insane potential and is proper COYS, I'd rather see him get a shot than friggin Xavi. Look at Wharton, Eze, Rogers, Foden...and Dele & Kane, obvs.
Youre having a laugh

Hummmm, no I ain't.

Vicario is shite. As is Udogie. Our CM options are shocking. The entire solar system knows we need a LW. Richy/Kolo/Solanke/Tel as CF options...for the 9th richest club in the world...really?!

Of course I know it ain't gonna happen, not in one window, not in 2 or 3. We're just not that club. We talk big but that's all there is to it.

If we're going to double down on this strategy where wingers are expected to be part time wrestlers in terms of how often they get involved in duels, Everton's Ndiaye fits the bill as well as anybody in the league.
  • He's 3rd in the league in number of ground duels, a category where Kudus leads the way by a margin, with a better success rate than Kudus': 47.4 to 42.
They're very comparable in metrics related to the quality of dribbling and chance creation as well, indicating that his physical prowess doesn't involve a trade-off with flair.

Should certainly be on the list.
