There's a certain type of player that appears to excel in Germany, it's a stat padders dream over there. VDV is a centre back and Woltemade a big burly forward (I'd also hesitate to claim that he's done anything to justify the fee) they aren't that type of playerSo we discard Germany totally? Personally I think Woltemade looks good and our own VDV is half decent

Nusa, Semenyo should be obvious targets for that LW position.

People seeking some simplistic failsafe scouting strategy based upon fixed criteria like league, size, G&A etc. are chasing their tails.
Prime example: Modric..... Little bloke from a backwater league...... Turned out to be a GOAT.
Scouting needs to dig deeper and concern itself with combined factors/attributes.
It's acceptable to buy from any of the leagues, it just takes a bit more attention to detail than eying up the hype train and signing an AM because they scored 90 goals and 300 assists in 17.5 games in the Bundesliga.Which leagues are acceptable to buy from? Son played in Germany, Eriksen in the Dutch league, Dele Alli bought from league one, Van de Ven played in Germany..and so on
Any transfer involves risk. What is known is that both Nusa and Semenyo can give world class performances against top level opponents. They have shown that many times over the last few years. He's been outstanding for Norway but for Leipzig he's not been that hot...
Sure Norwegian guy, I'll take you're totally unbiased opinion that Nusa is the dog's bollocks, why not...Any transfer involves risk. What is known is that both Nusa and Semenyo can give world class performances against top level opponents. They have shown that many times over the last few years.
Odobert, Tel, and Johnson are all a couple of levels below both players at the moment, and I have never seen anything to suggest they will be great players in the future. So both Nusa and Semenyo would be instant upgrades imv.
Why should Wirtz and Xavi define transfers from Germany? I would say what they have in common is that they are too weak physically and so far have struggled with the tempo and aggression of the PL. That is about them as players, not the league they come from. Van de Ven didn't have those issues, neither did Etikete f.ex.It's acceptable to buy from any of the leagues, it just takes a bit more attention to detail than eying up the hype train and signing an AM because they scored 90 goals and 300 assists in 17.5 games in the Bundesliga.
Seriously, Wirtz and Xavi had insane g/a stats over there and they have what, 1 assist between them by December here?
I'm sorry, were we judging VDV on his absurd goal/assist statistics were we???Why should Wirtz and Xavi define transfers from Germany? He's not one for usLooks great in this highlight video. Have you ever watched him in a game? any good overall?
What's the correct amount of G/A before an attacker from the German league can be considered? Not absurdly high I guess, those players are just stat padding, but also more modest numbers are bad?I'm sorry, were we judging VDV on his absurd goal/assist statistics were we???
Quite obviously not.
Xavi and Wirtz are indicative of it being much easier to achieve hugely impressive tallies of goals and assists in that league, and should give anyone pause for thought before going ahead and signing a teenage winger from Leipzig, let alone Nusa who doesn't actually appear to even have managed to be impressive in that league!
They’re a few months in, playing in struggling teams. They night flop but it’s too soon to tell.I'm sorry, were we judging VDV on his absurd goal/assist statistics were we???

Just be patient, we are fully setting up for a 2037 Title charge!!!!!All I ask is we stop trying to sign promising youngsters for a bit and sign some actual quality players in their prime.
PLEASE/

I haven't said that there is a correct amount, but it's clear that being able to blow that league away doesn't simply btranslate to being able to produce anything in the PL.What's the correct amount of G/A before an attacker from the German league can be considered?
