Transfers The Winter Transfer Thread - 25/26

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Aghehowa’s clearly the striker we’re after, there’s been too much smoke regarding him over the past couple months for their not to be some fire behind it.

I do think he still looks very raw, his touch is very ropey, but there are attributes there that you can see why we’re after him, he’s big, quick, powerful, and he knows where the goal is, you can work with that. I don’t think he’s worth £70m but the market’s that fucked now that maybe that’s just the going rate for a striker with promise but that still needs polishing up.

There’s not really anyone else out there I can think of that’s realistic, and Harry doesn’t look like he’s pining to come home anytime soon, so if it means I don’t have to claw my eyes out watching Richarlison every week then I’m fine with it.
Did anyone watch this bloke against Nottingham Forest....sigh 😔
Im far from convinced.

We’d be stupid to loan him out. If he goes to a club at that level on loan and they figure out how much he lacks as a player, you’ve blown any chance of ever selling him.

Figure out what these clubs are willing to pay for him, and if it’s close to £30m, I’d honestly just take it and run.

A loan is daft. He has some use to us. Just not once we have better players.

As it’s daft i expect we will go ahead with it

It just wreaks of what will be pushed to happen though, Villa will be his top option, but will likely only use the loan with option route (like Rashford and Asensio). Think he would get goals at Villa coming on from 60. But agree his deficiencies would be very clear and they wouldn’t then sign him.

£25m + Johnson for Scott
£50m + Johnson for Wharton
£70m + Johnson for Anderson

Any works. But not sure any will for Johnson, Wharton or Anderson.

That Spurs need a LB is obvious (coz Udogie is so injury prone)....but I can't get why they want to replace the whole left-side of the team unless they are selling van de Ven.
And Spurs already have the following CBs: Romero, Vuskovic, Danso, Dragusin, Ashley Phillips, Takai, van de Ven.

Four positions Tottenham want to strengthen

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has now backed up the claim that a left-back is a priority next month, but he reveals that the North Londoners want to replace the entire left-hand side of the team.

It does not come as a surprise to hear that Tottenham also want a left-back, given that Ben Davies is in the final year of his contract and Destiny Udogie continues to struggle with injuries.

Gold adds that over the next two transfer windows, Tottenham also want to add a midfielder and another centre-back to their squad

Are you being serious?
He was our top scorer last season with 18 goals.

You say that but then you contradict yourself...

My 9th richest club in the world.

To buy a striker above Solanke or Richarlison is harder than you think. It would take a lot of transfer fees, big wages and a player willing to come. Woolwich spent big on a striker and he is poorer than both of ours.

Eketike was a masterstroke by Liverpool but most other forwards are like the guy in Portugal, a huge gamble.

Like Cherki dogshit or dogshit dogshit?
Cherki's always had more raw talent than Savinho...and a lot of other young players. His attitude was the concern at Lyon, where it took him 5 years to perform on the regular. Any Spurs fan who had concerns about signing a Lyon starlet with known attitude issues was well within their rights to feel that way, after the Ndombele fiasco.

It's also (much) easier to succeed at City than at Spurs, you know, seen as they have a proper coach and proper players. And we...well...do not. I have zero doubt that had we signed Cherki, he wouldn't be grabbing the headlines the way he currently is.

Its not just cash

Its availability of players better than we have - probably all but impossible in January and not easy in summer.

Besides which without service from midfield, the forwards will not be keen to come.

Better to fix the creative midfield problem before looking at strikers

Aaaah the old "Yeah but Gyokeres is shit". Obviously I friggin hate him and that cunt club, but that's such a lame & pointless line. Guy has been at Woolwich for 5 minutes...how long Richy & Solanke (60 mil each) been at Spurs and playing PL football?

Also, according to TransferMarket or you know, just that thing called common sense...there's at least 30 strikers that are better than them two dumplings.

But yeah, point taken about the money. Let's just stay put and keep pocketing 4.5mil per home game then, yeah? Who really cares about setting new xG lows week in week out eh?

That's why Goon, Creep, Crook & Chew get paid zillions of GBP a year...to do their homework as thoroughly as possible so that any signing is as close to a sure thing as possible.

Sounds about right for a striker of his quality, both fee and wages.

If ENIC are serious, he's the type of player I feel we should be targeting.

Ionman34 Ionman34 nailing it once again 👏

If we do not have the players creating many chances,

1 The best strikers are not keen to join
2 strikers joining spurs are not likely to do much better than the current crew.

That's why buying strikers over a creative midfielder etc makes no sense
