Paratici parting gift?

Probably bollocks. Never heard of him but that doesnt mean anything nowadays!

Not sure he's what we need - good player though.

Kudos for left field thinking though - Im a big believer in the "right" player (/manager) not being the "biggest" or highest profile or most expensive...

Absolutely ran the show in a double pivot against Elliot Anderson last night

The only question I have is about him technically in a possession side because Everton are very transition heavy. Saying that, Frank is playing very similar style to Dyche at Everton and on the technical side, I saw the Rooney podcast with Xavi Simons and Rooney said the player that really surprised him technically was James Garner.

I see the logic on transitions, but to be honest Im really hoping we arent buying players for Frank football - Im hoping he is gone ASAP and we will have different priorities from there on

I reckon this is pointed at Tel, Odobert and Sarr. Possibly even Simons if we could get back most of what we paid for him. Don’t think he’s overly keen on any of them.

In fairness to him, if we got £25m back for Tel and Odobert, maybe £30m for Sarr and close to what we paid for Simons. I’d probably agree with him.
We shouldn’t be selling Tel or Odobert as they still have big potential. Sarr though should be out of the door. One of the most overrated players by our fans I can remember in a long time. His technical ability is championship level and his decision making and football IQ is even worse, he’s a PL player because he’s a phenomenal athlete and that is it.

Hes still young and can be developed imo. If hes 27 or 28 i would agree with you.

Nah I disagree. I think he’s that bad in the areas I mentioned that it’s just not going to happen. You dont get players in their mid 20’s suddenly developing technical ability or a football brain. I’m absolutely certain he’s going to amount to nothing more than a busy **** that is valuable in about 5-10% of scenarios we’ll find ourselves in as a big club. We don’t need busy ****’s we need classy passers that make good decisions on and off the ball. He’s not capable of any of these things.

Garner definitely under the radar and probably the next big hype job. He could easily be in the Wharton/Anderson conversation for England by the time the world cup comes along.

I'm not going to pretend I know how good he is just yet. He's impressed me the few times I've seen them play but like you said, Everton don't tend to dominate possession so its a difficult role to judge. Just found it crazy how Everton were missing Dewsbury Hall and Gueye yesterday, so he was the only first choice midfielder available and up against Anderson, Gibbs White and Douglas Luiz. Incredible performance to hit the numbers he did against them without his ideal partners. Leon Osman is a very good judge of a player too and he's been raving about Garner for the last few weeks and even arguing that he is their best player this season.

Also potentially an absolute dud.
You don't pay megamega money for players unless they have "done it" consistently. Especially if you can't afford for the gamble to not pay off.

Maybe he will be. But I don’t think your second statement is true in football anymore. Teams do spend megamoney on players that haven’t done it consistently now. Ekitike, Sesko & Woltemade are all examples of that. Or maybe it’s just a case that £60-70m isn’t considered “mega-money” by top clubs anymore. Either way, that’s the going rate for top Premier League clubs buying highly rated young players nowadays.

Semenyo’s only really hit form the last season and a half and he’s going for 65. Wharton and Anderson will go for around 100m and they’re not exactly veterans with 150 PL games under their belt.

He’s out of contract in the summer is he not? Man United will take him back there I think. They actually don’t have that many academy graduates in and around their first team anymore, so they’ll want him back for that quota and to continue their tradition of always having one in the squad. The pull of playing for them regularly will also be there for the boy having come up through their academy his whole life.
