Transfers The Winter Transfer Thread - 25/26

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I don't think it's a theory, really. We haven't had the money, and I don't think the covenants on the long term debt allow the risk of going above a certain revenue threshold like others.

After all, Villa's owners sold the stadium to themselves to cook the books for just £50m. Imagine the outrage if that was done with us - never mind with HSBC 🤣
The idea that Lewis is above financial shenanigans now that is funny 😀

What're you expecting them to be doing?

Apparently they're bidding for this Brazilian LB and showing interest in Conor Gallagher. It's just not very thrilling.

According to the prophecies from the summer, Vivienne Lewis was going to rescue the hearts and minds of all those people affected emotionally by the existence of mean old daniel, who had been hording the transfer funds like scrooge mcduck, whilst communicating better with the fans

As stated, not being a priority is not a reason not to seek to buy, and who knows if this is linked to a potential new manager or whatever.

As long as we have a specific plan to add first-teamers as well, then it's okay.
I'm not saying don't get him, generally I support moves like this

I am saying, with he first team in such a fucking state - maybe protracted negotiations over a prospect aren't the thing we should be worrying about right now?

Well I'm certainly not supporting the Lewis' cartel beyond waiting to see if they do come through with decent transfers in this window. Are you expecting them to announce a list of the transfer targets? I don't know what else they're supposed to say - ''erm we're thinking of sacking Frank'' - ''Chirpy is a useless cunt'' - ''Chris Brown is the best singer'' . Joking apart it's quite usual when a change at the top occurs, even in politics as well as business for the leaders to say ''we'll listen'',,,,,''we'll improve communication'' . Then everyone just gets back to what they were already doing and it's all forgotten about or ignored. The only part I'm presently interested in is the part when they said more money for the squad. It's the only important part right now, to see this £150m spent well, along with the Johnson money.

They've never shown an interest in the club until this year, tbf. That we were in enforced austerity has long been the narrative, though I expect it to just be BAU as we've now got a board full of people who don't know what a football is
ENIC of which Levy has been a shareholder for many years have made no secret of their lack of interest in football . That they see Football as an investment ( John Thomas loves trotting out the quote from years back) is nothing new . I expect nothing more from them than I did from Levy although I live in hope . Pretty sure by September we will all be in agreement that nothing has changed.

I just don’t really get the attempt to distance Daniel from them , it’s just as with all mega rich people he has been discarded by them as if he too was a gardener they no longer needed .

They have been in step for 25 years until he outlived his usefulness is how I see it .

It's quite hilarious that everyone and their dog knew we needed a young rotational left back in the summer except the actual club...who waited months to finally determine we needed a young rotational left back.

Potential is not what we need atm....we need proven PL players to get the team moving....then we can think about potential...otherwise we're going to keep slowly sliding down the table and only mediocre players will be attracted...
Suit the board of course..after all, we're just a cash cow as far as they’re concerned..
Dark days...

Agreed, but you don't stop looking for and agreeing deals for talent, regardless.

Levy hasn’t been discarded by the megarich. He’s one of them. At least a billionaire on paper. Not exactly a gardener. I shed no tears for him.

That football club owners see their international businesses as a vehicle to make money as opposed to owned by the local community — 90% of Spurs fan aren’t even local anymore— for the common good is standard thinking unless you’re living in 1928 or you’ve watched too much ‘Welcome To Wrexham’.
