Oh well... it is sad that such things cannot really happen in the real world.
But looking at past 2 seasons, I would like to see the club go into fire-sale mode right now.
Only players I would keep from current crop would be:
Kinsky
Austin
Danso
Takai
VDV
Spence
Davies
Palhinha
Gray
Bergvall
Sarr
Kulusevski
Yang
Maddison
Kudus
And even most of them would be down to fact that we would have to be able to field the team or that they are injured and could not really sell them. Or Davies just from the respect of his services, hardly one for the long-term future.
On top of them just use the academy kids and loanees - Moore, Vuskovic, Donley, Williams-Barnett, Devine, Scarlett, Lanksear, Phillips, Ajayi, Melia
In terms of currently available (or hopefully soon back*) players it would give us -
GK: Austin, Kinsky
CB: VDV, Danso, Vuskovic, Takai, Phillips
FB: Spence, Davies, Williams-Barnett
CM: Palhinha, Sarr, Bergvall, Gray, Donley, Devine, Ajayi
AM/FW: Moore, Yang, Kudus*, Kulusevski*, Scarlett, Lanksehar, Melia
That would be enough to keep us in the EPL for coming season considering how shit the bottom 3 is. Technical quality we'd lose would be netted with actual willingness and desire to fight and give their best.
And give us in total something like 400 million to spend in summer to build new core.

You’ve just listed Williams-Barnett as a FB, rendering your opinion worthless.
Establish a midfield duo who can perform such basics more than once or twice a game, and that alone would elevate us back to top 6-7 level.

Its not 17th or 14th but its not much better than 8th to 12th. Its just proper mid table.
We said that about Ange as well. You have to face reality eventually that while a manager might get a bounce or improve us slightly. Ultimately these players aren't good enough.
I know people don't want to accept this for some reason, much easier to blame the manager every time.

I think it's because supporters don't want to admit that we peaked nearly a decade ago and it's mostly been downhill since then. We've been passed by the likes of Newcastle and Villa, and clubs like Brighton and Brentford are much better at recruitment. People would rather just blame the manager than admit we have a midtable squad.
