I think Van der Ven is holding some cards here. Currently our best, most valuable player, the board can't afford to let him go at any price, so he needs convincing to sign an extension. He will probably only do that if the board show ambition i.e. go out and buy some players that are worthy of being in the same team as VdV - or he'll engineer a way out to Madrid or Bayern, and get to play for a real team there.

They risk another Kane / Bale scenario if they don't play this right.
He's as good as gone mate.
Back to the 90's and 00's when the Judas's, Sheringhams, Carricks, Modric's, Berbatovs etc fcuked off the moment a big club came calling.
The days of top quality signing new contracts at Spurs probably ended with Romero this summer. And I reckon he's shown massive regret for that,

Think Mickey is coming up to a crossroads in his career.
He will only take his game to the next level with better players around him and coaching.
Be all to obvious to him especially when seeing the levels when with the Dutch squad.

Really think the way things going with the club
and by looks no Champs League,
Right club come in with right price Mickey will be quickest player literally out the door.

And best of luck to him too whatever happens.

Why would our better players want to stay?
There is nothing here for them, club is in a downward spiral, with no light at the end of the tunnel right now.
I suspect that, the club will start with a raft of kids in the team next season.
It will look like Glee lineup and will achieve fuck all, but will have good sell on value.

I think this is achievable by August. Purchases Bold, HG in Italic.

You want Davies as our back up left centrebacks and think we could get Yilmaz for £40 million? What drugs are you taking?

Van De Ven is not in the same category as any of that 5. Not even close.

His loss would say nothing and be inconsequential.

He is as arrogant as Berbatov was, with infinitely less cause.

Could we all stop being so negative and suggest who we could sign.
Goalie #1: Unai Simon, Oblak, Sommer...even Pickford is better than Vicario

Backup goalie: Rushworth, Patterson, Pope

RB: Kounde, Stanisic, Livramento (if can stay fit), Laimer, Kayode...even bring Walker home for 1-2 seasons to mentor the next gen

LB: Dimarco, Robinson (injury concerns), L. Davis, Grimaldo, Truffert, Murillo...or play Micky there

LCB: Bastoni, Guehi, Murillo, Schlotterbeck

CM: Valverde (dream signing), Locatelli, Anderson, Wharton, Da Cunha, Baleba, Stiller, Hackney, Scott

AM: Guler, Paz, MGW, Rogers (when Villa go bankrupt), Steijn, McTominay, Sancet (if wasn't so injury-prone), King (one to watch)

RW: Bowen, Inaki Williams, Rodrygo, Wilson (supersub!)

LW: Nico Williams, Yildiz, Barcola, Hudson-Odoi (I know), Ndiaye, Lookman

ST: Osimhen, Ramos, Oyarzabal, Alvarez, Lautaro, Marmoush, Evanilson...friggin Harry Kane

The 9th richest club in the world should've no issues signing any of them names.

But ENIC.

I thought we were a big club :avbcringe:
We were.
1960-1963.

Did you miss the year 1991?
Here’s a recap for you:
Spurs had a £20 million debt and were close to liquidating. In June, a consortium led by Alan Sugar took over the club and with a mixture of personal loans and selling star player Paul Gascoigne (to Lazio), saved the club from financial collapse.
We’ve never been the same club since.

They call that history.

United bought Mbuemo ahead of us, Cunha who was wanted by other PL clubs. Sesko.

How many people moaned about our summer transfer business at the time, or is this more retrospective chit chat?

What you say is also wholly untrue and unrealistic.

Lol, are you on crack? You think players like Kounde & Valverde are swapping Barcelona and Madrid for a bottom half of the table Premier League team? 😂
