Sounds a good policy though doesn’t it?

We probably wouldn’t be in the mess we are in now if we had just bought better players.

The policy might be sound but some of our players would probably look a lot better with a manager who oversaw something resembling progressive football.

I don't believe Frank's best makes even very good players perform to their optimum. I don't see it because his messaging, demeanour and general aura don't convince.

FFP I think. I wonder if the Villa forums have a thread on him for insight. Inconsistent is my memory. A shit Aaron Lennon.
I remember him as a fun spark in that Villa team during his one season with them. 10 goals and 11 assists in all competitions before he got flipped to Saudi. Not to mention 49 goals and 47 assists over 4 seasons in Leverkusen.

You could make Harry Winks look world class in a YouTube video. Seen plenty of him at Villa and he was so bad, that he lost his place to outcast Leon Bailey.

Hell nah.

find and then buy

lets be real -

for a player to IMPROVE us, I would imagine there is a general consensus here that people do not want to just buy a mild upgrade but actually get a player that, long term will be a solution to our problems.

That is a certain level of player, likely starting for a team challenging for things.

Midseason, most teams are not going to sell players that are pivotal to their season's aspirations - sure, Man City have pulled it off - but we are talking about extremely rare situations
I agree that there’s certain positions we’d struggle to find a meaningful upgrade for in the January window, however we’ve got some serious gaps in this side where even mid players would be a substantial improvement.

I probably rate Gallagher higher than others on here, and think he’s a massive improvement on Bentancur, but maybe we could’ve used that money on a player with a profile that we don’t have but need.

For years have we been crying out for midfielder who can make progressive passes, but instead we keep buying the same level of players performing the same function.

Is it really that hard to find a winger who is a decent finisher and also be able to manufacture their own chances.

At this rate im willing to go and get another young winger if we're not willing to pay the money for a senoir player.

Mika Godts anyone...who's clearly too good for the eredivisie.
