Does ANYONE on this forum ever consider that players might not want to come here???

I think Sterling is an example of a player - much like John Stones a few years ago - where a player falls out of favour and suddenly becomes thought of as a total washout, yet if they move to another club and play regularly that would be forgotten.

On a decent, sensible wage on a 6-18 month type deal, I'd rather Raheem Sterling with a point to prove (e.g. WC) over Muani, or probably a Lookman type player that has no credible history of performance in this league

He went to Woolwich, had the opportunity to play in an settled team at the top of the league

And did the square root of fuck all

Looking on Fotmob, he managed 9 appearances between Feb and the end of the season

One single full 90 - two assists and his best performance against PSV Eindhoven

Otherwise he was dogshit and not trusted

While I agree there are players that fit that bill - look worse than they are, can really impress with a fresh start - I dont think Sterling is one of them

The Monaco lad or Marmoush are the only signings I want from who we are linked with.

Every other player I see us linked with is just another squad player who doesn't really improve us.

Is mateta better than solanke?
Is Diaby or Lookman better than Kudus and is it worth moving the likes of odobert, Tel and Moore further down the pecking order?
Is Robertson better than udogie?
Why do we want to swap sub keepers with West ham?
is Duran just going to be the same thing as kolo muani?

Seemed to me, at the time, that he went to Woolwich as a favour to Chelsea (what with the weird incestuous relationship between those clubs) to a team where he wasn't ever needed, for a manager that was winning games from set pieces.

We know enough from recent seasons that the wingers are very productive in a Frank team, so it seems like he would not only be much more 'needed' in our current situation, but possibly better suited to the way the team is encouraged to play

They do have a weird relationship, but I dont think there are any favours done.

Chelsea have been trying to bin him off for 18 months, speaks volumes IMO.

And I was googling around a bit the other day, Woolwich comments on him (various sources) were universally negative.

Mostly to the effect of "he was given plenty of chances and did fuck all, Arteta gave up on him in the end".

Considering theyve since bought Madueke and Eze I have to assume if Sterling was any good theyd have used him more, theres a desire for that sort of player.

Hes 31, has barely played in over a year, and when he has played hasnt impressed. Im just not seeing anything in him worth being interested in

I wonder if people actually mean this when they say it, the amount of I'm done's and final straws I keep hearing about, I mean what does it actually mean anyway, are you done watching Spurs? Are you done for the day? Are you done in this thread? The mind boggles...😆
I’m done every time Sterling plays for us.
We have just got rid of Johnson and for me sterling would be a washed up mk2 of Johnson.

Sterling has the same issue that we saw with Rooney, he’s played first team football since he was about 17, so his body’s finished by his late 20’s.

Like him or not, he was a great player at his peak. The Sterling of 5 years ago walks into our team and is instantly our best player. Now, not so much.

We can't sign Sterling cos we can't all agree on the spelling!

Also, whenever I think of him I think of a T-Rex obvs and that clip where the supporter is telling him to pass it to about 6 players and he loses it to a goal kick instead.
