Transfers The Winter Transfer Thread - 25/26

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

It's like the club actively tries to promote it's banter status.
There's gonna be the inevitable Paddy Power take on this in the next few days.
And it'll no doubt ruin your weekend more than the actual football.

I’m in a weird place.

I don’t want us to sign anyone else because I know it would be a panic buy, with no long term thought process behind it, and doomed to flop.

Yet we NEED signings desperately.

Rock and a hard place!
At this point, I'd rather give our academy lads a go than panic and sign someone like Sterling.

I'm being a pedant here but surely the windows we signed nobody were worse?
Sold Johnson, loaned Scarlett, lengthy injuries to Kudus and Richarlison only offset by Solanke returning to fitness. We currently have 5 attacking players to fill 3 or 4 positions until probably April. We also know Solanke is massively injury prone and Kolo Muani is struggling. Its a hell of a risk when you're 8 pts clear of the relegation zone.

Still think we'll probably get some Danjuma style loan though.

Probably the most nonplussed I’ve been about a transfer window. Really can’t see anyone coming in that’s going to change much. Unless we buy a Marmoush. Think Jones would be a good buy too but those are deals we just can’t do whether that’s down to the other club or us.

I always think back to those though (and even further back, the Nelson and Saha one) as times we decided not to capture the moment, which led to inevitable decline. Which ends up where we are now.

But anyway yeah, this one's another crap window and since we could still end up in a relegation battle, I know what you mean.

We never ever seize the initiative. We are reactive rather than proactive. We lack conviction when we need it most. We are satisfied with being nearly good enough.

That's why ENIC have to sell IMO. They've had enough chances.

Love how we identified Semenyo & then had absolutely no plan B despite being told that we had 6 targets for each position. Either that was a porky pie as Frank stated he wanted players to come in early or we can’t attract anyone due to the mess we are in . I’d go with a bit of both.

Maybe we should forget transfers and concentrate on building that hotel 🙄

I do think we will sign someone but it’ll either be a panic buy or underwhelming

We're not signing anyone, there's not a realistic link currently and the leaks have been pretty consistent by this point. I think, absurdly, we are done

Inescapable feeling that something needs to change at this point, of which I don't mean ny close of transfer window, but more broadly.

We can't continue like this.
I agree, total apathy from fan's seems around the club too.
Club has got itself into a position where, many players are not interested in joining.
Contrast that with say Villa, who are on the up with a good manager and ambitious board.
Totally the opposite of what we have and are, can't believe how bombproof Frank seems to be, probably the worst manager I've seen for a while although, ange was bad as well.
What a mess this club is in, can't seem to make any decision correct.

I think Robertson still possible

Anything else will pure random opportunism, nothing by design

But there is absolutely nothing that backs up your view and if anything Liverpool need to keep Robertson more now than when our initial interest was revealed. I can't see it at all.

And whist I think Robertson's experience would have been good, our greater needs are surely at the other end of the pitch.

I don't think the CEO, Lange and the manager have any idea or are stuck on agreeing on what's required, even now. Quite pathetic and quite damning.

It is mystifying but the indecision is echoed on here, so maybe it's just indicative.

For me it's so clear - the squad can be bettered, without any such players needing to be world beaters - Robertson is an example of that.

100% agree.

Villa are probably very much acting in the manner I wish we could copy, and I don't mean Emery but the way in which they are conducting their business, with clarity and speed.

I don't see them baulking at bringing in Luiz because he isn't a game-changer. The same with Abrahams.

Reports of Robertson pushing for the move, them willing to sell if they can replace, him out of contract this summer - I think we might revisit this one

And while I don't think he's an exciting buy at all, I do think it's a sensible move

But yes, the club appears to not have a clue

There does not seem to be a plan for any signings. We seem to be waiting to see who might be available,,waiting for someone cheaper. One minute we are linked with a £80million winger, then one for £44million, then Diaby is linked and now it’s Raheem Sterling on a freebie.
