Hate ENIC. Want them gone BUT I'm not really sure what we're supposed to do when we're this depleted.

LW is the only position we HAVE to improve. We never replaced Son and no one is good enough to fill that roll. The issue is that you're never going to bring that player in during the January window.

Other than that, we're a fullback light and could do with a better centre forward to compete with Solanke. Vuskovic will add quality to CB next season.

I guess we've just got to grit and bear it until the summer. Beyond a joke how fucked we are injurywise. A season out of Europe will do us the world of good tbh, just so we can ease the load on returning players and build up match fitness.

I forgot we can't loan another player unless we get rid of Muani.

Yeh that's it for the window I guess, Maybe Robertson at a push but he's probably decided to stay due to their full backs being injured.

I have listened to a few pod casts now where tacticos are suggesting football's cyclic evolution point to a shift back towards a 4-4-2. It's how we started the second half with Solanke and Muani both playing centrally. A diamond 4-4-2, with aggressive FBs, would suit our existing squad somewhat. We'd still need a better GK, as well as a progressive passer to anchor the diamond, but we have lots of players for the other positions.

Christ we have trouble buying 1 striker, imagine having to buy 2

Agree. The fact that we're even having this discussion is an indictment in itself, of how utterly horrendous the squad building has been...

So having Rom, VDV, Danso & Davies all injured at the same time is a symptom of "bad squad building"?

The fact that we have a further 4 CBs (Vusko, Philips, Takai, Dorrington) out on loan isn't also a indication of an intent to build the squad in that position?

Give your head a wobble.

....Christ; be thankful we even have Dragusin & Palinha to call upon at this point.

(There are genuine criticisms that can be made of our squad; but yours ain't it!)

This is what pisses people off. A. Madrid sell us Gallagher for 35m. An okay player but not a game changer. They add 15m to that 35m and buy Ederson, arguably one of the best midfielders in Serie A. They upgrade their midfield in a major way for 15m net spend. Would it be too much to say to Atalanta here's 55m and say Ederson here's 200k. Granted, the player might say no but I guarantee we did'nt even try.

This is exactly what I was trying to explain to people in here when I suggested he might never play for us. The player, his family and agent want him to remain in Germany next season. Guess what, he wont won't be lining up for us. The only use the contract has is ensuring we get a fee.

Another year in Germany (at 19!) would be superb for his development.

If he's as potentially good as people say he is the worst thing we could do is rush him back and crush his development just for a hasty quick fix to our short-term problems.

If that means buying another 24/25 year old CB now or in the summer, so be it

An oasis of sanity in the middle of an desert of lunacy and bed wetting, thank you.

No if you'll excuse me, back to reading grown men having tantrums about not signing 20 year old Frenchmen they'd never heard of until today, for next season at that...
