Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

You seem to think we are arguing. Im just sorting actual bullshit from facts. Sissoko played in one of the clubs biggest games seems odd a fan wouldn't know this. Its not about you. Im not arguing with a man I dont know or care about. That seems to be your thing. Winning the Internet. Deary me.

Gonna point out the miscommunication here, the original Sissoko point stated that Poch got us "into CL", and was rewarded with Sissoko, not into CL Final and then got Sissoko.

So there was nothing technically wrong with that part of the post.

I think.

For me the Sissoko signing perfectly sums up the our paucity of ambition and Levy's complete failure to capitalise on the top class squad and manager that he stumbled into.

We were off the back of a title-charge, in the Champions league, and had the most exciting young squad in the league. It was the perfect time to build on our success, buy some genuine quality, and have a serious stab at the league title.

Liverpool, who finished 8th, signed Mane and Wijnaldum while we got the likes of Nkoudou, Janssen and then spaffed our remaining cash on Sissoko - clearly a last minute desperation buy - presumably because he had decent World Cup after being bang average for Newcastle.

We did sign Wanyama that summer, who was obviously decent, but aside from that it was such a wasted opportunity. And for all the 'we couldn't spend cos of the stadium' rhetoric from Levy, surely winning a fucking title would earn the club a hell of a lot more money and prestige in the long run. Not to mention, all squads need depth and refreshing, or else you end up spending even more down to line to do a complete rebuild (and usually suffer massively as a result). And surprise surpise, that's exactly what happened 3 years later.

Sissoko had some good performances and moments but he was so fucking limited and his effort masked so many obvious deficiencies in his game. The fact we got so deep in the CL with him in our midfield is a minor miracle.
I'm not so sure I agree with the bolded part as such, it was a fee of £30m back when that was still a big fee in general, and pretty massive for us in particular at that point. People may say "well yeah but the wages weren't that big" but a player you're signing for £30m isn't going to be on small wages, unless they have a dreadful agent.

What it did demonstrate was our total ineptitude when it came t identifying the right player to go big on, at that point a signing for that kind of expenditure should have been a big big player for us, guaranteed starter, the mythical gamechanger.

Not Sissoko.

Aside from a few austere years with the stadium build, and a TW of no signing which was also partially influenced by Poch's pickiness, spending money hasn't really been an issue for us. Spending it badly, consistently and over a sustained duration, has.

The leadership of the club is incredibly naive I think, bordering on clueless at times, it's not difficult to believe that Levy saw Sissoko tear us apart on the final day of the season Newcastle were relegated in and genuinely thought he was signing an absolute superstar based on that one game. That this scenario is even remotely plausible demonstrates a problem at the club for me.

I think there is ambition at the club, just a complete lack of know how in terms of how to realise it.

As we are data driven and the latest rumours suggest that Levy will be selling his stake to someone who is a tech entrepreneur, we should take note…imagine if THFC designed a chat bot to deal with negotiations🤣🤣🤣

“Chatbot isn't supposed to be making financial decisions. It's supposed to be answering customer questions between 6pm and 9am when I'm not around.

It's worked fine for 6+ months, then this guy spent an hour chatting with it, talked it into showing how good it was at maths and percentages, diverted the conversation to percentage discounts off a theoretical order, then acted impressed by it.

The chatbot then generated him a completely fake discount code and an offer for 25% off, later rising to 80% off as it tried to impress him.”

I read that the issue Levy has is his stake is in ENIC not THFC directly which undermines how much he could sell for as that share would have no real influence on the club. It’s unlikely he will get anywhere near £1bn unless he sell to the Lewis family but he might not if he has a grudge. I don’t think it will be easy for him to get the price he would like.

Hmm odd that we weren't interested given the price.

Would've added balance with the older wingers Kudus and lookman, and their younger competitors in Tel and odobert.

Alas people running the club don't seem to have a clue how to build a team
Wonder if his age put us off?

I've felt for a while that we've been trying to do a watered down version of Chelsea's transfer strategy. We've not gone as extreme on age or quantity of signings as them but we've almost exclusively signed players 25 and younger in the past few years and gone pretty hard on 18-21 year olds. The only exceptions have been Maddison, cheaper backups like Danso (who was 26) and loan players like Palhinha and Werner. And Maddison's the creative type who's not hugely reliant on explosivity or pace anyway.

Spending 30m on whatever on a 28 year old Lookman would go against this strategy and I suspect the club would rather go big on some wonderkid like Diomande than sign an older player with no sell-on value and higher wages.

Not saying this is the right strategy, personally I think it's good to have a sprinkling of older, more experienced players to provide balance and maturity even if there are some financial downsides, but would go some way to explaining why we didn't go for someone like Lookman.

Genuinely think this was our worst ever window since the Premier League started.

Worse than when we signed nobody when you look at the squads and where we were.
There was at least some kind of understandable logic to that window.

This window was unforgivable. It's outrageous. Those responsible should be held accountable for their actions.

It's beyond negligence. It's deliberate sabotage.
I'm sure somewhere within club documents are spreadsheets that justify what we did somewhat, and whoever created them needs to be investigated with potential legal action taken against them.

Things panning out exactly as ENIC wetdreamed. Keep the shitty manager in Jan, sign fuck all, wait til the window slams shut, sack the shitty manager, don't have to spend a penny to back the new boss.
