Really like listening and watching the videos with Frank. Did the same with Ange before we appointed him but it was mostly because he seemed so inspirational in the way he talked. He never really spoke much about tactics in detail. The in depth tactical details Frank provides I find really interesting.

Post on a Brentford forum

"I’m just hoping that Levy listens to the ignorant majority of Spurs fans who have made it clear that they see Frank as a massive downgrade and not nearly up to the task of managing their massive club."

Every clip I'm seeing of Frank's tactics is basically just brentford countering on a team pushing up against them and scoring. Teams don't push up against us! I haven't seen one clip of brentford mechanically breaking down a low block.

We were good wheb teams pressed up against us. Just watch any of the goals from the 3-0 United win, 4-1 Villa win and 4-0 City win! Problem is teams stopped pressing on us and instead sat. Does Frank solve any of this? Unlikely! Guess he does stop us from giving away stupid goals tho so that'll be an improvement! If teams sit on us and defend really well the we probably draw some games 0-0. Better than losing I guess!

I'm personally still higher on Marco Silva- and I think his better point take from us these past two seasons should offer at least some weight in that argument. Frank has done very well with what he has been given though and surely that can't be ignored either.
I wouldn’t take these results vs him in the past two seasons too seriously, before Ange, Silva had literally never won a game vs us. That 3-0 last season was the first time, and he’s been managing in the Prem since 2017.

I understand the point you are trying to make, but Watford, Everton, promoted Fulham? Not much to work with, honestly. Winning is a "what have you done for me lately?" thing more than a historical thing in these parts...

Mourinho also never played professionally. :mourbye:
He actually did briefly at sort of semi-pro level. But then also his father was a player and then manager at the proper professional level and then he linked up with Bobby Robson when he was in his 20's.

Jose is almost the complete opposite of the Frank mindset, very old school, deeply steeped in the dressing room culture of top level football, and not coincidentally someone totally committed to the idea that the result is all that matters. Even as the young enfant terrible he belonged to an older era of the game, Robson's era.

Jose is not someone whose outlook on football and life meshes well with modern data-driven operations.

That said, modern data-driven operations have blind spots, and the magic is often in finding the figure, often the head coach, who can translate data-driven insights into the language of young testosterone-fueled thick-headed athletes.

Frank has done that, certainly. But he's got a different style and approach to doing so than some others.

Potentially he did in the Championship? He seems to be a manager who plays to the strengths of his team and adapts to his opposition (as opposed to a "systems" manager in the Mourinho/Conte/Ange ilk). With Brentford, in the PL, that means making them the best counter attacking team they could be. He did that, really well.

In the championship, teams I suspect would sit back against Brentford more often. How did he play there?

I know it's magnitudes different in quality, but if he had a system that worked there, it may well work for spurs in the top 5/6 of the prem.

Of course, he’s not been at some poor sides (don’t forget Hull as well lol, they were dreadful) but it’s not like we’ve been elite for a while. Clubs like Palace and Wolves have managed to get a fair few results out of us in that same timeframe Silva’s had and they’ve done it with teams both better and worse than this current Fulham squad, and I’d personally argue Ange had the best starting 11, at least when everyone’s fit, since Poch.
