I know this is the Frank thread but I think Romero has been very canny by nailing his colours to Ange’s mast. He’ll have perhaps known his days were numbered and by aligning his staying to his ‘beloved’ manager he hopes the fans will have some compassion and let him leave.

Fingers cross Frank can get ahead of that and influence him in the way Ange couldn’t with Kane.
I think everybody saw right through it. He can be a warrior on the pitch but his political gamesmanship was pretty transparent

Now that Frank is the manager and we are all behind him, what are the expectations do you think that Levy has placed on his for this coming season?

I think Levy will expect a Europa League place ie 5th and a good cup run or cup success. Whilst financially, top 4 would be Levy's dream, we are so far behind other squads and we are unlikely to buy top players to challenge for top 4, whilst those currently in the top 4 only have to buy a couple of real quality players to get even further ahead i.e. they could buy two £80m players each, and we'll be buying £40m players.

met a Brentford supporter tonight … he’s not as high on Frank as everyone here. Kind of bizarre. Says his subs are crap and he loses all the time from winning positions because he’s scared of attacking. Apparently last year they led the PL in points dropped from a winning position. Sounds a lot like Mou

I’m going to look forward to actually being in a winning position! How many times under Ange did we always need to come from behind!

I've been watching all the Thomas Frank Hyperbole on Sky Sports News and I'm now getting very excited.

There was me thinking Levy has opted to employ a very beige, mid table, manager, who will be grateful for the opportunity, do as he is told and is used to working on a shoestring budget.

It seems I have under estimated Mr Frank and we have seemingly hired another 'rock star' manager who never spends time in the relegation zone, always beats Chelsea and loves a set piece.

Can't wait for the new season.

Romero and Son are clearly reading this all wrong.

:letmyselfout:
Romero read..

Players know this industry is fickle, they know players and managers move on. Of course after 2 seasons with a manager who has selected you every week, as a player you are going to have certain connection with that manager and therefore what we are reading now is a nod towards that connection.
This is quite normal and I would not read too much into any of theses "nods"! Sure Romero might want away and may be using Ange going as an opportunity for his own exit, but overall once they all return for pre-season and Frank stamps his mark on them it will be the start of a new chapter at The Lane.

Ange has convinced the players that losing is OK. I think it will take a miracle to change that so quickly and make them perform like one of the 5 best teams. Just managing to lose half the games of Ange would be an achievement in itself. It could take us to top 5 but may also leave us a few places worse.
Levy has to accept that he messed up with Ange and waited too long. If he expects some miracle, it just shows how naive he is.

Need some proper signings to even have a chance. A player like BJ can never be a starter for example. More recruitments like that and we'll end of bottom half.

Nice easy one for fans who struggle with songs with too many words

To the tune of Daddy Cool

I could re-write the whole song, but fuck my life our stadium songs are shit unless the word count is low.

If this is what "selling feels to idiots" looks like I'll have me some more 😍

I'm sorry you're so bitter and twisted you can't share in this joy. I wish you all the best.

:angecup::D

We're you in Bilbao? Or at the parade ? you're a fool who can't seperate reality from their own constructed fantasy. I don't confuse the cup win with the direction of travel. I enjoyed both to the full I'm still not a man stupid enough to think these things are mutually exclusive. Now off you trot to Olympiakos you dumb fuck wit.

I think first season EL qualification is the bare minimum, also keep the losses in single figures for the league and maybe try turning up for the Gooners and Chelsea, If we can finish top 6 this season I would say that is very successful but only if the aim is to improve on it the season after.
I think a lot of people have reservations on Frank as it screams a move from the club to get back to the top 6 but never really do enough in the transfer market to actually compete for winning, this window will be very interesting to see what direction the club is heading.

Did he though, we are in the CL next season , maybe that doesn't happen if we parted ways with Ange last Christmas......
Levy took a risk on keeping Ange so long, but for the most part that risk actually paid off , we also lost a lot of games by a single goal , so with a good tactically acute manager bringing across a whole new entourage of coaches hopefully it shouldn't take much to get the team back to winning ways in the PL.
