Corrected, but my point still stands that he needs to be given time.
Sections of the fanbase are demanding instant success from a brand new manager, when we've finished 4th once in the last 6 years and prior to this season hadn't won a trophy in 17.

So if you're saying that finishing 5th with no trophy is not satisfactory and potentially worthy of the sack, then I'd say ...
I'm sorry to be pedantic again, but I never mentioned sacking. My post didn't really have much do with Frank, per se, it was directed at us, the fans, and what our standards for success should be, regardless of who the manager is.

I'm happy to agree that Frank, or any manager, should be given at least two years to deliver success. But I will not consider 5th in 25/26 and 26/27, and no trophy, a genuine upgrade on a manager who delivered 5th and, regardless of league position, a major trophy in his two year stint. I expect Frank, and the club to do better than that.

Would you consider a coach who gets us to 5th two years (the next 2 seasons) running, a 'genuine upgrade' on a coach who achieved 5th, then lets us sink embarrassingly down to 17th? To my way of thinking, that's a more honest comparison that doesn't cherry-pick stats in order to sway the result (unlike yours).
Winning a cup competition is a wonderful thing, but unless it's the Premier League Trophy it's slightly incidental to the overall analysis. I'm with Levy on this one. Frank is The Future.

Whatever happens at least Frank won't stink the place
And btw that 5th in his first season was total capitulation after 10 games

He might match yours!

It's possible I suppose...

Nobody is accepting mediocrity, but people are being realists. A brand new manager, trying to install a new mentality, with new players will take time to click.
To achieve top 4 and a trophy we'd have to hit the ground running straight away.
What are you suggesting? That if he doesn't make top 4 and win a trophy that he should be sacked?

It's about time we actually backed a manager for a longer stint at the club. This rotating managers every 2 years is not a viable way to operate as a football team
One thing he has going for him is even if Spurs finished 8th he can point to a 9 place improvement in the standings. It is interesting to think Spurs could, realistically, go from 17th to the top four in one season. It won't be easy, but it isn't impossible, either.

Wasn’t originally that thrilled with Frank but the more I have read about him at Brentford the more comfortable I am. Also below account which tend to get things right more than anyone else I have seen really rate him

As the original poster I think I have to give my opinion.

Well, I think that it was a very bad decision. Ange was trying to make a team able to contest for 1st not 4th. And when most of our players were available we 've seen some samples like the 0-4 against City.
As far as the injuries are concerned, apart from VDV's hamstrings that were possibly the effect of training (and of the medical department which let's not forget was sacked) how many injuries can we attribute to him? Vicario's fracture, Solanke's knee and many others where mere mishaps.
People say that 5th in the first season was due to the first 10 games. But, who was managing the team in those games? Maybe Harry Kane through teams.
Now, back to our previous glory of the big 6th.

Edit: Sorry, wrong thread 🙂

Tel has cost us £40m plus 5m.

“They need to move away from the model that made them pay £150m combined for Richarlison, Brennan & Solanke”

The problem with that model wasn’t the £150m part, it was the dickheads who decided what to spend it on.

I think that’s also a wage issue. If you say we are going to spend say £70m on player X but only 100k on wages then 70-80% of the £70m level players are out of range.

Fucking hell dead the Ange talk you absolute obsessed weirdos, go and get a hobby.

Same old pointless arguments, who gives a fuck he's gone now.

ffs

The final analysis is exactly correct. Some of us were saying after 12 games. We have done an uncharacteristically smart thing in letting him go and getting Frank.

I so wanted it to work, I love the idea of having an attacking manager and mostly with us it does work (see Pochettino or Redknapp) but he couldnt adapt the framework.

We played 433 high press like Klopp but with the full backs inverted and wingers pushed wide. It was 1/3 Klopp, 1/3 AVB, 1/3 Madness. If he would just have kept the full backs wide, let the wide men play in more and set up us more compact it’s Klopp’s system. It’s like he was 70/80% there but refused to fix the final bits. He could inspire players, he wanted to attack but he kept the worst aspects of his system and wouldn’t change them.

I’ve warmed to him now and he could be good for us other than not being A***!
