And I'd be the same. Just got back from Japan, via Doha in economy, and going home via Elizabeth line. I'd love to go First Class and have a chauffeur-driven limo to take me home, as I'm absolutely knackered.

Still, should consider myself lucky that I could the trip in the first place, and I do.
How did you find Japan? I was there for the Marathon in early March. I was blown away by everything about the country, the culture, and the people.

Were you Kota Takai’s chaperone?

Japan is lovely as are the Japanese

I went to Tokyo and Mizoshima in the early 80s and was made so welcome!
Loved the tea and coffee shops!
My best friend and his wife lived there for just under a year and a half and really enjoyed their time.

A friend of my dad lived there for 20 years and had a more "nuanced" take on it for lack of a better word. According to him they love foreigners as visitors. But immigrating in on a more permanent basis is very much a hassle and culture shock.

Which makes sense I guess, they are a historically isolationist island kingdom.

I gotta go over and visit at some point.

I disagree. Weve gone backwards and been a mess since poch left.
We were going backwards and becoming a mess before Poch left.

Again, there's this massive revisionist narrative about the end of Poch's tenure. After Boxing Day 2018, we closed the 2018-19 season on a 3-2-7 (11 points from 36) run in the league. We lost a LC semi to Chelsea and 3 days later bombed out of the FA cup away to Crystal Palace.

Getting past City on away goals in the CL quarterfinal was massive, and earned us a fortuitous draw against Ajax (who we still needed a Moura Miracle to get past).

Pochettino then, ludicrously, went on the record and said he'd quit if we won the CL because it would be the end of the project. He/we then proceeded to shit the bed in Madrid.

He came back and we started the new season 3-5-4 (19 points from 36). Continuing from the previous season, we'd won just 30 points from a possible 72 since Boxing Day 2018 (almost a full calendar year). That form over 38 matches (and again, we're talking 24 here so its not an isolated blip) is pace for 47.5 points.

On top of the poor league form, we lost in the LC to fucking Colchester. And we'd drawn with Olympiacos and been hammered by Bayern in the CL.

Poch was justifiably sacked. Its just the cold hard truth. He deserved it. He had run his course, and had come up narrowly, painfully, short on several occasions.
