I’m not sure of this raft of teenagers we had playing that many minutes in PL games? Raft normally means a lot.
I’d say a “couple”. Bergvall And Gray.

Frank like Ange before him and in fairness all premier league managers is just a salesman. Just got to be positive.

I can live with that mindset.

I’m not going to bury my head in the sand though. We had a weak squad last year. I don’t think it’s changed that much. Tel is better than Werner. But untested.

I hope Kudus steps in and performs but I’ve never watched him play. Hopefully he blows me away with his ability.

We will probably lose son. Whatever people think we won a lot more matches when he was in the starting 11.

Good luck to Mr Frank anyway.

Tel, Odobert, Moore all bedded in last year too

No agreements on the rest

Not saying either of you is right or wrong but if/when Vuskovic starts getting regular minutes, add in Bergvall, Gray, Odobert, Tel, Sarr, Udogie…

4 of those are full internationals already

Which team in England, Germany or Spain has as many u23 players that level in their first team squad?

Barcelona probably have kids in their academy better than Odobert who haven't kicked a ball for the first squad, lol. They wouldn't get near these top teams ... they're in our squad because our squad is weak. Chelsea have young talent out on loan everywhere.

Chelsea have Lavia, Colwill, Palmer, Gittens, Estevao, Pedro, Delap ... and then probably about 12 more of that ilk on loan ffs. City have Trafford, Khusanov, Vitor Reis, Gvardiol, Lewis, Gonzalez, McAtee, Doku, Savinho, Cherki, Bobb..

Ffs a team like Barca have Yamal, Cubarsi, Balde, Pedri, Gavi, Fermin Lopez... absolutely pisses on our crop.

We have a decent amount of U23 talent at the moment. Some will make it. We don't have the best U23 players, so many of ours have done very little of any worth at premier league level.

Tel, Mikey played a fair bit, Odobert was still 19 and starting before his injury.

We had the most minutes played by teenagers in the top 5 leagues or some statistic to that effect.

Moore 361. Expect he won’t be with us this season
Tel did play a lot. 913. I think he could have a high ceiling.

Gray Bergvall and Tel bettter part of 4000minutes between those 3.

Per Transfermarkt, our most valuable U23 player is Destiny Udogie, who is in a multi-way tie for the 60th most valuable U23 player in the world. Gray and Bergvall next in the 70's.

The actual best group of U23's is surely either Barcelona (Yamal, Pedri, Gavi, Pau Cubarsi) or PSG (Doue, Neves, Barcola, Mendes, Pacho)

All the big English clubs have several entries ahead of any of ours.

We are miles and miles away from the elite level atm.

Yeah its baffling ignorance. We're doing relatively well on that single front whilst neglecting other fronts, but we're still very far from elite level.

If we're lucky, a couple of that crop will turn out to be what the optimistic fans think they will all be. And then when they're lost in a sea of mediocrity they will want out.

Gonzalez is u23?

Yeah I realized after the post we definitely aren’t the top team for u23’s.

Barca, PSG, Chelsea, City are in their own league.

We can’t be far off the next level chasing them. Vuskovic and Bergvall are worthy of all those teams. All of them wanted Mikey Moore as well and City have been linked to Archie Gray this summer even.

We're probably part of that chasing pack - Woolwich for example don't really tend to focus on it all too much and rely on le academy - but we neglect other areas of the club.

I refuse to be all that excited about it. The idea that its some sort of grand plan for world domination is hilarious. It's a strategy that can sort of work if you're a Dortmund in a weak league, when you're competing with this top four you'll just be outgunned constantly.

I feel the same about all this data led stuff.

I want to win things, not sell players for a profit and overachieve our wages.

I’m definitely supporting the idea of top academy kids coming through and signing Bergvall, Gray and Vuskovic but it’s pointless if you don’t give them elite level senior pros to learn from

This is so embarrassingly untrue and you must know it is. There are many clubs with better U23 talent than us on paper. Most of our U23 talent is not of the top calibre at all, it’s actually a lot of punts.

Out of all of them we will be doing well if even two become genuinely top class premier league players.

Can you convince Barca to swap us Pedri, Yamal, Gavi and Cubarsi for our super talented youth please.
Silly thing for me to say it’s the best in the world. Clearly not.

PSG and Barcelona are clearly ahead.

But otherwise only City and Chelse are in league with us in the PL.

Bergvall and Vuskovic have world class potential.
Tel and Odobert can both become top players. They’re teenagers.
Udogie and Sarr are already solid PL players with more room to grow under a proper coach.
Moore, Gray, Yang, Takai, Kinsky and Dragusin have varying potentials but all are poorly to be solid PL players AT A MINIMUM. Maybe one will fail to hit that level.

Not many teams have 12 players of that standard.

Of course most of that is wrapped up in potential rather than current performance which is why it’s important we have great coaching and opportunities to play.

In league with us hahaha. They're miles ahead - ffs mentioning plyers like Yang and Takai as if Chelsea don't have fifty players like this on loan somewhere.

We might be third best. Other prem teams don't care as much. It's not going to lead us to glory if we have a couple more top young talents than the gooners but they have a core of players 23+ who are going to be in their prime for the next 5, 6 seasons as well e.g Rice, Saka, Saliba, Gabriel, Zubimendi etc.

You want us to be the dortmund of the prem ... well in the prem this means absolute best case scenario you consistently could finish fifth.

Doesnt the just tell you how quickly things can turn in football?

Our plan is explicitly to become the number one destination for young players. We have a better crop of U23 players then I think any other team in the world. Keep them together for 2/3 years and we’ll be back on top.

It’s cyclical. And we never used to be able to say that. Until this past decade, Woolwich were clearly better than us my whole spurs supporting life.
Delusion of the highest level

You can't believe this shite

It's just silliness. It's not cyclical. You don't get to have a cycle if you do nothing to get out of your current place in the cycle. United have been trying for how long?

We invest a bit in young players but so do other teams, and then our rivals drop 250m in a window on players in their early to mid twenties ... these are the signings who keep you on top for the upcoming cycle, not twenty year olds. Those guys supplement your team.

Do we have any of the 10 best PL players below the age of 23 not on City or Chelsea?

1. Wirtz, 2. Yoro, 3. Nwaneri, 4. Mainoo, 5. Lewis-Skelly, 6. Garnacho, 7. Kerekez, 8. Wharton, 9. Zabarnyi, 10. Baleba?

And then U23 for whatever reason usually includes 23 year olds, which adds Elanga, Amad, Amadou Onana, Branthwaite, Morgan Rogers, Murillo, Gravenberch, Ekitike and Saka.

The case for U20 is still weak but not facially absurd. U23 it's just absolutely nowhere close.

Dortmund who got to a CL final a year ago?

Their problem is they always have to sell and we wouldn’t have the same problem.

Yeah Dortmund who fluked a final while being pretty mediocre in the league and then were immediately rubbish in the league again. League finishes are the consistent sign of success. They’d be 7th/8th in England.

Meh. We simply don’t sign enough good players in or headed towards prime for us to be anything other than a club hunting for the fifth spot.

Dortmund's record of not just scouting but DEVELOPING, from step to step to step of the world's elite talent is just so far off the radar screen of Spurs it's not even funny.

They have established a culture of doing this over DECADES as opposed to this just being Daniel Levy's latest momentary "win for cheap" scheme that will be swept out the door along with Lange and Frank the next time results start pointing the arrow of fan ire in his direction.

Their problem is they always have to sell and we wouldn’t have the same problem.
This is the way Levy is looking at it too and it's COMPLETELY 180 degrees wrong and a GUARANTEE of failure.

Selling players on once they have fully bloomed is not a weakness, it is precisely the thing that enables their entire system and allows the next set of players on the assembly line to take the next step forward within the team.

"Dortmund but keep the good ones" is nothing but clueless ignorant midwit sophistry.

This doesn’t respond to my point at all.
