I think you are missing my point a little.

Even when we had the ascendancy for 5-6 seasons there was never a huge gulf between our squads. They still had some players we would have taken into our team.

Right now I'm not sure there are many of our players that even make their squad.

And I'm pointing fingers at our absentee owners who through a series of inept appointments and a lack of spending have set us back decades.

You might point to our net spend and say that Levy does spend money, but he doesnt' do it in the right way, he would rather buy 2-3 kids for £70m than just buy a top player for example an Eze and make him a top earner at the club in terms of wages.

This is why we have fallen behind. We are putting all our eggs in one basket with kids and its just a huge risk. For one our fanbase doesn't have the patience to watch us floundering in the wilderness while we wait for a bunch of 18-19 year olds to reach their peak mid 20's.
And then there is always the possibility they get poached off us. There is also no guarantee that they fulfill their potential.

This is why other big clubs don't operate like this.

The goons along with the other big clubs just go out and buy the real McCoy ready made off the shelf no waiting.

Its high time we started acting like a big club, we aren't Bournemouth or Nottingham Forest.
You don't understand...kids are cheaper..

"We've got our Tottenham back" has always been a meme. Fans don't care about entertainment nearly as much as they do about the scoreline. The former is just a bonus.

Now, if the manager in question is dislikable on other grounds, which was definitely the case with JM and Conte, ugly football can be used as an additional stick to beat him with. But it's not decisive by itself.

After sticking with Ange despite hitting new lows all season and getting rewarded for it at the end, I don't see Levy pulling the trigger on Frank within next season barring something truly extraordinary.

I don't think something truly extraordinary is required for Frank to be out if work come Christmas. If we struggle against Burnley, then I guarantee there will be booing in the ground and Levy out chants.

Frank was appointed not to chase down the trophies but instead, to coach the team to overachieve saving Enic on spending too much.
Ideal signings are punts on youngsters who, will accept lower wages along with lower expectations of challenging for tbe big stuff.

Bigging up Woolwich in his presser..

I don't like it.

Going on about how they are one of the best teams in the World right now, the most pertinent thing we should all be asking is why are they so far ahead when we were miles and miles ahead of them a few short years ago and get ENIC/Levy/Lange/ whoever the fuck it is to pull their fucking finger out and buy some quality.
Also when we were ahead I don't remember any of their managers referring to us as one of the best in the world.

We need to get shot of this inferiority complex.

We should be competing with them at the top table, there is no longer an excuse. I'm not going back to 15 yrs ago looking up at them. This shit isn't acceptable

It’s twice he’s done that now. Last time he said some shit about their invincible team going unbeaten and for sure we’d lose games

He’s trying to lower expectations and pressure but it’s coming off as small time mentality.

He can fix it, and he does need to. We aren’t Brentford

You can tell that he’s not used to the scrutiny and the scale of press conferences that comes with being at a bigger club, just yet.

Hopefully he feels more comfortable soon because he’s going to need to adjust to it fairly quickly.

Yeah, i don't read too much into.his comments either.
Frank is just setting the expectations down a bit, he knows tbat Woolwich are going for it, while at spurs he has to make do and get by.
Of course it shouldn't be that way considering both clubs finances, but when you have the people we do in charge this is what you get.

. We have a better crop of U23 players then I think any other team in the world. Keep them together for 2/3 years and we’ll be back on top.

This is so embarrassingly untrue and you must know it is. There are many clubs with better U23 talent than us on paper. Most of our U23 talent is not of the top calibre at all, it’s actually a lot of punts.

Out of all of them we will be doing well if even two become genuinely top class premier league players.

Clearly finishing 17th is a very low or bad outcome for us. Statistically (even though it’s hard to see), that means we had bad luck
no numbnuts.

we finished 17th because WE WERE UTTER SHITE WITH A SHITE MANAGER WITH SHITE TACTICS THAT EVERY OTHER MANAGER IN THE PL SAW THROUGH AFTER OUR FIRST 10 GAMES SINCE WHEN WEVE BEEN ON ABOUT A POINT A MATCH.

But you think we were just unlucky. Really. And if we'd played those matches a hundred times we'd have finished higher than 17th.

I've just asked people in which games were we unlucky? Which matches did we lose where we should have got something? Tell me!!

Which matches did we have the best of a draw where we really shouldve won?

I can't think of a single one. I can think of some draws we absolutely stole - Fulham and Bournemouth.

I can think of matches where we shouldve lost by a lot more - Palace, Bournemouth, Brighton, LFC at home couldve scored 10, Ipswich at home, Everton. Villa in the cup.

10 matches from the end of the season I was on here saying we'll end up with 37pts. We got 38pts. It wasnt because I was forecasting we'd be unlucky. I was seeing that we had been shit since November and because nothing had changed we'd be shit in those 10 mathces too.

Bad luck my arse.

If you disagree with any logic you'll have to tell me in which games we were unlucky rather than talking absolute gobbledegook

NB - Saints finished bottom becuse they were SHITE but maybe you think they were unlucky?

Per Transfermarkt, our most valuable U23 player is Destiny Udogie, who is in a multi-way tie for the 60th most valuable U23 player in the world. Gray and Bergvall next in the 70's.

The actual best group of U23's is surely either Barcelona (Yamal, Pedri, Gavi, Pau Cubarsi) or PSG (Doue, Neves, Barcola, Mendes, Pacho)

All the big English clubs have several entries ahead of any of ours.

We are miles and miles away from the elite level atm.

5th and a Trophy in 2 seasons, a raft of teenage stars who have now learned from the mistakes of losing premier league games and also built the belief they can win things.

Frank himself repeatedly stating that he wants to build on the foundations and success Ange left but add a more defensive balance.

I’m not sure of this raft of teenagers we had playing that many minutes in PL games? Raft normally means a lot.
I’d say a “couple”. Bergvall And Gray.

Frank like Ange before him and in fairness all premier league managers is just a salesman. Just got to be positive.

I can live with that mindset.

I’m not going to bury my head in the sand though. We had a weak squad last year. I don’t think it’s changed that much. Tel is better than Werner. But untested.

I hope Kudus steps in and performs but I’ve never watched him play. Hopefully he blows me away with his ability.

We will probably lose son. Whatever people think we won a lot more matches when he was in the starting 11.

Good luck to Mr Frank anyway.

Poor guy should walk now, what a joke this is. "We want to win the league, that is the ambition of this club and what success will be measured against".

Same apply to you baldy? Of course not. Over £100m spent on replacing managers since he's been here. Hundreds of millions of cheap dross that is shocker, not good enough.

Not saying either of you is right or wrong but if/when Vuskovic starts getting regular minutes, add in Bergvall, Gray, Odobert, Tel, Sarr, Udogie…

4 of those are full internationals already

Which team in England, Germany or Spain has as many u23 players that level in their first team squad?

Edit: just seen the post above and obviously Barca. I didn’t know Mendes and Pacho were u23
