With respect the 5th the season before didn't involve European football in the mix. The task is more uphill than Anges first season

It also didn’t happen after Son left and Maddison was out for a season. New signings will hopefully make up for this but it’s a very tough ask for them to produce what they did in the season we got 5th.
Between them they contributed to 40 league goals when Ange got 5th, and Maddison was absolutely key beyond g/a to knitting everything together and one of the main reasons we started so well.

It wasnt bad considering we had lost Mr Tottenham Harold Kane and not signed a replacement.
Expecting a fifth placed finish at a minimum is absolutely ridiculously unfair on Frank. The schedule, the loss of two of our three best players from 23/24, and the fact we barely clung on to that fifth placed spot anyway should be more than enough to show that.
Since then Chelsea (who we beat to fifth) have improved by a lot so unless you think Villa are dramatically worse (they’re about the same) then you’d be expecting Frank to do better in the league despite all the above factors. Silly.
