I’m really impressed by Frank so far. He’s played different system and used different personnel in our games against Woolwich, Bayern, Newcastle, PSG and Burnley. Giving this manager a big squad will be an investment, as he will use it well. Particularly impressed he went with the youngsters in CM today to keep Bentancur and Palhinha fresh for different challenges.
The amount of flak I got saying we should go for him for this reason, you would not believe.
It was too extreme today imo. Not saying he got lucky but that team was inexperienced and lop sided.
We need a couple more first teamers for him
Definitely on board with the changes in formation - two up top, three at the back, four four two happy days. Bring some old school variations

Like I said in the PSG thread, he's still learning about the players - how they cope/react with pressure, games with elevated stakes etc.
Just a shame he wasn't further down the road in this respect; the changes would have likely been different and we would have seen that game through before going to pens.

The step up from Brentford to Tottenham is big and it would be understandable if Frank would´ve gone safe initially but he´s made some bold calls, both today and against PSG, but he´s got it right. It's just refreshing that we have a manager (and his coaching staff of course) that will work his ass off before every game trying to maximize the team´s chance of winning by tweaking the tactics. There will be occasions when he gets it wrong but it´s a nice feeling going in to every game feeling we may actually have a chance, rather than knowing we will lose beforehand, which was often the case under Ange.
It is not philosophy, it is not rigid tactics. It is a guy looking at the opposition and going "how do we beat them?". That is also exemplified in set pieces and throw-ins. How do we give us ourselves that extra 1 or 2% chance of scoring or stopping a goal?
Ange didn't care about details, it was about inspiring the players and playing a flawed tactical style with the squad he had. Although one could argue he chucked that to win the EL. I don't buy that, I think the players were just forced to sit deep because what Ange actually wanted them to do was not working.
It is interesting that people have forgotten Ange said on two occasions in the Europa League he didn't tell the players to play a low block, they just did it.
Something Ange did really well was keeping the squad together and making them keep believing despite us being absolute dog shit on the pitch. Obviously he was an incredibly motivator otherwise the Europa League wouldn´t have happened and for that I´m always grateful. That´s why it was good timing to cut ties after the season. Ange left on a high and we could bring in someone who´s very decent tactically while also being a good motivator.
Yeah, well put, that is what I meant by inspiring the players but I didn't give him the credit for it, which I should have done.
