20 minutes into the game today we had people falling apart, calling the team shit, saying the manager needs to go, same old predictable bollocks.

After the transfer window we’ve had I’m taking a break from this place. Such an insanely toxic environment. Not to mention the people who have no interest talking about the club, all they want to do is ragebait and wind people up.

I know there used to be a load of cunt offs but I don’t think it ever used to be like this.

Good post but stay on board squire. It's just a message board, although if fans were booing, it's not just restricted to wackos on here.

I think Frank is going to have a hard time, simply because we won the Europa. It's clear as day, and for many they are either choosing to forget the 22 losses in the PL or frightened that it might happen again.

My concern as I have said all along is our firepower. It's average and needs addressing.

Said this after we signed him.

Look in matches like today his limitations are going to be exposed especially since we don't have a ball progressor on the pitch, I think with a player like Simons covers him limitations because you have a player who wants the ball and wants take responsibility.
I Don't know if Simons is the guy to cover his limitations though. A MGW or Paz, yes. But Simons isn't own that go in and play the 8. If we have Simons playing, there's a big hole in our cm for the other 8 to occupy. I think it's a one or the other situation. Palinha for the games against big sides that'll dominate the ball, but against opposition we should be having a go at, I don't think he should be a starter.

My view on what went wrong was possibly Frank seeing Bournemouth at home as the same as City away. Completely different puzzle to solve and we didn't, plus if you concede a goal early doors, that's where you need creativity but it's also important for the players to be able to dismiss the losing home trend of last season.

The right changes always shows clarity of thought. Massively important. It's less that they always work, and more that they are objectively the right call at the right time.

I don't put much credence into losing before an international break. Just one of those quirks, but breaking out of it is needed.

We need to rebound in 2 week's time, against a team we know will somehow find a performance against us. It's a shame to lose today for many reasons, with one being that 3 games in a row allows you a bit of a breather. Now it's pretty essential that we don't lose against West Ham, just to keep that better feeling going.

Hopefully we are also buoyed by another player or two before the window closes, but if not, with a returning and fit Solanke, who needs to come to the fore.
Yeah it was a tricky one for Frank because he had to name the same team. We had a week rest and after beatinf City 2-0, you can't go making changes. But the problem then is the team go out trying to do the same thing again and it was the wrong approach. I think we need to be more open to not playing Palhinha in these fixtures because his build up play and passing rage is bang average, Bergval is much more comfortable going through them build up phases and taking the ball on the spin.

Palhinha is absolutely essential in nearly all away games and any games against top sides. But I think we can play someone like Bergval instead at home and try and dominate possession. This is all hindsight too as Palhinha was MOTM last week so how could you leave him out today. Bournemouth were just smart and direct. City tried to play out against us and we jumped on them. We were the direct team against city. Today we were trying the hold the ball and just running out of options and getting bullied all the way back to Vicario every time. We had no patterns and looked clueless.

What's the difference between Simons and Paz/MGW?

Well, he was aware of the likely battle in midfield, but he still didn't set us up effectively enough to deal with it.

Spacing was totally wrong and was a key error for me, especially in the first half.

Encouraged that he noticed and said it directly. The front 4 played badly but we couldn’t play through phase 1 and 2 because our midfield couldn’t play through their press and even worse considering we had the double 6 pivot, we lost duels as well

We might as well make a list of usernames, just so we know who not to waste time

That's why we need to be patient and try again for MGW next summer. He would have been a real game changer for this side, a midfield dynamo whose energy and ability is infectious.

Paz and MGW can and do play the 8, are very combative.

Simons has a decent engine, but he's not an 8. He's a 10 or 11. Same way Bruno can't play the 8 and gets played through.

I think Simons can drop into a deeper role in midfield and help ball progression, just like Maddison.

His best work is done further up the pitch though but in matches like this he definitely could have assisted in that area

First reaction was that you made this up for a bit of extra drama, but on the other hand the modern football fan never fails to surprise me.

Ange weirdos.

Ignore.

If this had been our 10th game, having been undefeated up to then, the same lamp posts would be frothing at the mouth, bemoaning tactical failings and a lack of investment.

It's just come 8 games early, but at least there has been nothing to surprise.

Sadly Paz was and is completely unrealistic, but has that same ability you speak of, and will get a lot better. But yeah, MGW I think should be a priority next summer. Be interesting to see Bergvall being given a runs of games in that position though, could see him growing into that sort of player.

No point melting we knew with that midfield that would happen eventually that's why we bought Simon's.

Bournemouth had that squads number they pressed the midfield cause they know we had no one to beat the press in any fashion. And they stuck big horrible bastards who kicked lumps out of Kudus and Richie to stop the longball.

Bournemouth pressed like men possessed hence why they gassed after 70 mins and ended up clinging on when they should have been 4-0 up.

Won't play teams like that every week on such good form and so many players won't drop stinkers.

Today just showed the limitations of the players we already knew where there. Thankfully Franks now seen them and can try fix and replace what he can't fix
