Yesterday was very similar to watching any of the 22 league defeats last season under Ange.

Lessons I hope Frank learnt:

1. Avoid complacency. That's the 9 consecutive time we have lost a league game following a victory against Man City.
2. Do not play the right footed Spence behind the right footed Johnson, on our left flank in any home game.
3. A Palhinha/Bentancur double pivot is great for games against the best 6 or 7 teams in the world, but is not so good for home games against mid-table opposition as it has zero creativity and passing.
4. We need to play with a much higher temp at home and blow teams away.

I don't know because they are used to it here. They are used to it here. They don't play for something important, yeah. They don't want to play under pressure, they don't want to play under stress. It is easy in this way.

I was critical of Frank's selection and late subs yesterday but on reflection I understand why he wanted to put faith in the same players that delivered a great performance against City last week.

As for the subs, he' just got here and most likely wanted to give the players a chance and not sub them off at the start of the second half.

I'm sure he knows what the issues were yesterday and will fix them going forward.

spurs have been a loser club for decades, ange needed 5 years to change the culture and implement his playing style and philosophy and build a roster that could change the whole direction of the club. VDV only played 12 league matches in the league last year romero i think only played 16 league matches in the league ,the injury toll was horrific. rebuilds take patience and years to do . ange is gone after winning a trophy a dumb decision. frank is going to need 5 years if he is going to create something .
I agree and when was the last time Levy gave a manager 5 years?

If Johnson isn't going to work for us then better to sell him and buy someone else, as the fans don't seem to want him here.

I think most fans are fine with him being here as long as it's an appropriate role. He can come off the bench against tired legs or start in certain matches where we will be playing on the break. He's a good goalscorer and those are precious commodities.

But I think everyone, including Frank, can see that he is a very limited player. In build-up he is non-existent unless there are huge spaces he can run into on the counter attack. In games where our attacking play is condensed into tight areas he is simply of no use. A player like Aaron Lennon didn't have his knack for goals but he was way more effective as a player.

What's most concerning about yesterday is we were told Frank was a strategically astute coach who would tailor his line-up and tactics to the opponent we'd be facing.

Yet he proceded to start exactly the same team that played away against Man City. Now Bournemouth are a good side, but they are a step below Man City, and we were playing at home so why no changes?

I suppose you could make the argument that pretty much everyone had a good game against City, and we didn't need to rotate, so dropping anyone may have been bad for morale, which perhaps fair enough.

But then if that's the case I want to see wholesale changes for the West Ham game.

I'd suggest:

Xavi for Johnson, as a fairly obvious swap.

Udogie and Solanke for Spence and Richarlison (assuming both are fit).

Gray, and Bergvall for Bentancur and Palhina.

I'd keep Kudus and Sarr despite them both being poor yesterday. They've been two of our best performers so far this season, and hopefully Kudus will relish facing his old club. If he's as bad as he was yesterday though, I'd replace him with Brennan on the hour.

The rest I'd keep. Mickey and Vicario didn't do much wrong, and although Romero and especially Porro were crap, it's usually better to keep a settled defence.

I don't expect Frank will make those exact same changes, but if we don't see something similar to the above then alarm bells might start ringing - especially if we lose again.

I was not in favour of Frank being appointed manager. Even allowing for how bad yesterday was, I have changed my mind about him. He has potential to be very good for us.

The process he has initiated will not fix us overnight. It will take a few years and its success will largely be determined by how effectively the squad is strengthened over time.

Most importantly, Frank needs to be given time. This two year merry go round needs to stop. Managers need to be given enough time to fully embed their ideas, with players who can deliver on those ideas. It's too late now to know how previous recent managers would have fared with 3 to 4 years to work with. I suspect, had they been given sufficient time, and board support, we might be in a very different position today.

The past is history. The future starts here. Frank needs to be given time and resources, regardless of how this season unfolds.

He's the manager, should be more brave, he wasn't hired to please the players. He need to show that he's in charge and he will take the best decisions despite who likes It or not. Yesterday was a big let down, he should have changes the team with 30 minutes. But ok, early days, no need to judge him now and he will do better.

Agree with you actually. Things were obviously not working and should have been changed earlier

Oh for fucks sake

Worst part of yesterday’s loss is actually not even the performance but that the Ange fanboys have come out of their holes.

His foul stench lingers.

If we'd have had Frank in charge for two years and went into that cup with those fixtures, we'd have blown every single team away and still come top 7/8.

No drama, no weekly humiliation in the league, no soul-torturing scrambleball.

We'd have lifted the cup just the same, but with none of that season's pain.

You’d drop Spence whose been one of our best players this season!
