It's just far too early to judge Frank. At this stage Ange still looked good and Poch hadn't accomplished a lot. There hasn't been enough time for Frank to show he can change players, although we can already see we're better tactically IMO.

With a new commitment to winning supposedly taking hold upstairs, we can genuinely hope for an infusion of talent and more for him to work with. We have reason to be optimistic but there's just not much data yet.

November is too early. We don't have enough technically smart footballers in midfield and attack. Simons and Kudus are a big improvement but the rest are either young and inexperienced, inconsistent or bordering on brainless.

We shall see if we can improve in January but I think next summer we will make more improvements to the midfield and attack.
I think this technically smart players thing is over blown. Teams like Bmouth and Brighton don’t have expensive technical players but can still play good football. I remember when Glenn managed Swindon and got them promoted they played some good stuff. We just want grant to make us more attacking and physical with a bit of pace and power. We are never going to be like city or Barca and tbh Frank I don’t think can coach that. As long as gets us playing front football like he said he wants to do and be more attacking creating chances the rest will take of its self.

Porro, Romero, Spence, Udogie, Solanke, Richarlison, Kolo Muani…

We have raised the technical floor of this squad massively.

I’m sure we will start to see better attacking displays before November but let’s not pretend we don’t know what this fanbase is like, there’s no way a lot of them won’t start complaining if we aren’t seeing signs of good attacking football before Christmas
Richi and technical come on😀

Why talk about prime Poch? That peak period started when we beat City 4-1 in the 7th game of Poch's 2nd season. Frank has had 5 games. He may be great, he may not be but you cant come to any conclusion for a few months. You cant transform a side that finished 17th after 5/10/15 games.

Poch at this stage had 7 pts, performances had been mixed and folowing that we were then shocking for the next 7 or 8 games losing to WBA, Stoke and Newcastle at home.
Poch finished 5th and got to LC final in his first season. Remember the squad he inherited. I can’t recall him have loads of proven PL player bought for him in 2014. He had adenayor, mason , bentalab, aging defenders etc. no Kane yet firing.

No it was New Year's Day at WHL, think the Wembley game you're thinking about was 4-1 when Sonny scored one of his beauties.
It was 3-1, here’s an excuse for everyone to watch that one again.

The only other Prem game we played to them was the first at Wembley in 17/18 where we lost 2-1 and that murderer Marcos Alonso scored both. Wanyama did his knee and never got back to 16/17 levels. I still remember leaving Wembley right after Lloris let that bullshit second goal in under him and seeing some Chelsea fan outside and thinking “You cunt. Sums up Chelsea, winning against your biggest rivals and you’re out here with all of us”

Yeah i know where we finished and he did well enough from December onwards but it wasnt peak Poch. This isnt about bashing him, loved those few seasons more than any since the 80s but i just find it strange citing Poch and not giving the current bloke the same timeframe to improve a side that finished fucking 17th.

Why not? And the situations that both managers are inheriting are completely different. Frank has a much better squad than Poch inherited in my opinion but you will no doubt disagree and say he had prime Kane, Son and so on. Probably not worth carrying on the debate. We agree to disagree. Move on.

You have to put things in the proper context, we lost 22 league matches last season and let any old rubbish score multiple goals against us. Frank has 3 out of 4 clean sheets in the PL and is already halfway towards the total from last season. He's done superb work on the defence, using the same players but with a proper organisation and structure.

The attack will take a lot more time to get going, Maddison, Deki and Solanke are crocked while Son has left the club and Johnson demoted to the bench. He is using a completely different set of players in attack and we have to give them time to build an understanding.
How much time?

Porro, Romero, Spence and Udogie are defenders.....I specifically mentioned the midfield and attack

Richarlison and Muani are not smart technical footballers , they have abilities in other areas

We need players who have the brain to know when to pass, to consistently be able to pass to a teammate, keep possession in forward areas and be able to create something too.

We don't have these players and that's why our attacking play is so erratic and disjointed, not just under Frank, it's been going on for years despite the churn of players coming in and going out.

Thankfully this summer has seen a change and we have signed two smart footballers in Simons and Kudus, but we need more. Because Frank is more pragmatic and the football isn't always free flowing he more than anyone will need midfield and attacking players who have a high level of technical ability for us to flourish in that area.

Frank has done a cracking job so far. I like that we are keeping clean sheets. Its a good sign for the future.
Yeah we've conceded 1 goal in 5 games and people still looking to criticize. It's obvious that Frank had a plan to lay the defensive foundations first and then build on that. The fact that we have immediately become very hard to score against is a testimony to his short term work. The attacking element will come with time, but to have the set pieces firing already has really helped too.

All of it points towards good coaching in my opinion. It's simple stuff, but if you don't concede goals it gives you the best chance to win games.

To early to judge Frank absolutely? Of course.

To early to judge how Frank is doing so far? No...

So far.... I think he is doing a great job. Patience is key with these things, we always want to see the next stage now kind of thing, but the steps he is taking are all the right ones IMO.

Watching the team it is clear the attack needs work, particularly movement IMO - so often passes out from the back just arent on... but - he acknowledges this, and has clearly focused on the defence first.

Which is looking levels above the last two years already.

We know he has a sweet touch with attackers, so I have no concerns about his ability to improve the attack in the same way he has improved the defence.

I do want to see Simmons central ASAP, though I suspect Frank wont rush him there, and thats ok - Ill need to be patient!
