Hang on, a defeat not good. But a draw away to Leeds is not a bad result for a WIP team. Who would solidly "expect" to win there in the PL? About 3 or 4 teams max. Perhaps only 2.
Fucking hell... a point against a promoted team... our standards have fucking slipped beyond all recognition. Any of the big six should be winning at Leeds and that includes us. They are shit, with Calvert-Lewin up front. If we dont beat this lot then strap yourself in for a Brentford type season minus the CL.

So you want context to support your argument but dont want to consider it for last season. With all the injuries we had under Ange people still wanted him gone, myself included but its not okay to hold Frank to the same atandards... we will undoubtedly finish higher than 17th this season but its like this is a new standard to measure how successful Frank is... I can see it now when we finish 16th and the fan base is seething, you'll be on here saying we finished 17th last season like its some kind of new normal.
Nope, if we finished 16th i'd want him sacked. Postecoglou had plenty of full strength sides and we were still shit, last third of his first season, upto and including Ipswich at home second season. When we had that first bad spell under him when we lost something like 4 out of 5 i defended him as thought it was too early to judge and its even earlier now under Frank.

No manager ever stands a chance by those standards, Poch would have gone by November in his first season, Redknapp when he won 1 in 7 after an initial bounce.

It also amazes me that people seem to think this team should be top 4, when:

A) We finished 17th last year
B) Even Ange didn't finish in the Top 4.

It might take a few windows and more than a small selection of games to get somewhere.

Lack of a truly clinical goal scorer hamstrings us IMHO.
Relying on others to step up now Johnson is no longer first choice too.

Look at last years 5 top scorers. Johnson top which is mad in itself.
Then Maddison, Solanke, Son and Kulu.
43 league goals between them before we even talk about assists.

How many premier league minutes have those 5 played this season in total? 298.

And people wonder why we look a bit ineffective up front!

Anyway, fuck off cunt
I don't agree with calling people that.

But I find it disgusting when people say you wanted us to lose.

That is the one of the most disgusting thing to say to a fellow fan.

I had the same from some other posters, when pointing out that we was awful that night, their response was "You would have loved it if we lost," like feck I would.

Being honest about things doesn't mean you want the team to lose.

Saying things like that is what I expect the scummy gooners to say.

So you're spot on with your words, I have him on ignore too.

Interesting exercise... put the cups to one side, what are peoples expectations in regards to where the line is for Frank on whether he gets a 2nd season assuming he survives this season.

I'm happy to go first. Anything lower than 6th is failure so my line us 7th.

Well last season against the promoted teams we played 6, won 3, drew 1 and lost 2. We should win, and certainly should not lose, but the idea that a draw is "shit result" at this stage is out of line with where we are and they are.

7th would represent massive progress on 17th.

That said, the squad is a bit better

It depends on how we're playing second half in part. Say we now have crap 2 or 3 months, but then play well in the second half. It's much better than falling off a cliff. Many of us Ange-out crowd made this point re Ange. And it applies to Frank also.

This is the issue, we have a massively impatient fan base.

A large portion expect everything to rosy immediately, winning every match and smashing teams with ease. Couple of poor performances and they want a change in management and start comparing Frank to Ange, Conte and others. It's embarrassing at times.

We wouldn't have come back against Brighton, Wolves or Bodo in the past. Poor performances, yes, but at least there is character being shown and Frank doesn't sugarcoat it in post match interviews. He's honest about it.

We have to get a top striker and LW over the next two windows.
Note: these are the same people that defended losing 22 games in the league and wishing for that to continue this season.

It's TRIBAL.

It's CULTish.

It's IRRATIONAL

And it's fucking TEDIOUS already.

Their fat dad isn't coming back and they need to either fuck off to Forest forums to suck off his current league nosediving, or at least pretend to support this club and give a new manager the time he needs to sort out all the damage their fat dad did.

Frank would not have been my first choice, but he is our manager. He is clearly a knowledgeable coach, he is in the early stages of imparting his philosophy to a squad that is not as good as we would all like, and we are riding reasonably high in the league at this early stage without playing particularly well in most games. That is creditable thus far.

While, as stated, he would not have been my first choice, as our manager he will have my full support to do well. It is a nonsense, I think, to be lambasting him at this early juncture. We have been on a merry go round of firing managers in their first couple of seasons. That is mad, unless the manager is a total disaster.

Give this guy a chance. Give him a few windows where is backed by the club to assemble a decent squad. Judge him then.

Again, making last season a new norm. Any club with aspirations of playing CL football next season is going to Elland Road and coming away with 3 points.

It's shit at the moment but bonus is we are still hard to beat, whether that's luck or design at the moment.

He needs time. No manager was going to come in and have us playing good football straight away.

We will need to get through this period. We were always going to have to go through something like this, we finished 17th last season.

we are also missing some important players.
Come on... it's not luck.

He said that was the immediate focus and his first objective was to instill this and he has.

No luck about it.

Been very open about it and it's very deliberate and the players have responded to it brilliantly to be fair to them.

Whilst we're lacking in required talent, it's crucial we have this in our toolkit.

Agree with the rest, tho.

No Maddison, Solanke, Kulu, Kolo.

Stuck with Tel, Odobert, Johnson.

Can't really blame him for being reluctant to not play Xavi on the left.

Situation is dire.

Thank you for being a normal, reasonable human being and genuinely supporting your club and wishing the best for a new manager who has begun his role with a lot of dysfunction plonked on his lap to work through.

Respect.

Great post and also worth remembering that Ange had Maddison making things tick for us in those first ten games and he was majestic.

Frank lost him to an ACL and I think some are forgetting how absolutely crucial he has been to our attacking play. Even in the Europa which we went on to win he was crucial in the run to the final.

Anyone circling over Frank now is a fucking clown. And you can see some people itching to say Frank out. Probably the same people who watched us lose week in week out under Ange but still wanted him to stay and were happy to give him a third season.

Absolutely fucking bizarre.

A draw against a promoted team is a shit result

Don’t start with the free hit crap already

A draw at Brighton was a shit result, as was a home draw vs Wolves and an away draw at a team that has mouldy fish as a special in their canteen.
Nah a draw at the Amex is a decent result. Brighton are no mugs. And the way we got the draw I thought was positive, showing a bit of fight and coming from behind.

This is an interesting take. You might be on to something there. Maybe TF will end up rooting out those who can’t lift themselves to the next level
Yeah I don't think we've necessarily had a 'new manager bounce', we've seen a lot of the same old from some players who don't seem arsed about making an impression on the new manager. They've been told for 2 years that their performances have been good enough and we won something during that time too. They genuinely think it's good enough.

Saw someone say City was our only good performance.

Not true.

This was actually our best performance (Brighton away), overall, thus far, and we really deserved to win.

Because we don't have enough consistent quality players, we will, initially, struggle with consistent quality performances.

Which is why our ability to recover games is so valuable.

Either way, it's worth watching this again and appreciate that Maddison, Solanke, Kolo (and Kulu to an extent) is missing and how well we actually played, regardless.

Away to a team that beat us 3 out of 4 in the last two seasons who had this home record against the top 6 last season:

We have to keep two things apart - from one hand it is EXTREMELY early to draw any real conclusions. Frank has just started his work with the side. Clearly lot more time is needed to see, to which extent and how fast can he learn from mistakes. Frank has my full support and not for one second have I even thought any "TF out" thoughts. Have to separate two things - fundamentally bad manager and very poorly coached game.

That being said - last night he fucked up in pathetic fashion and yesterdays loss is 100% on him. Very fucking poor evening for him. It is right what some people say - it makes it more difficult to rotate when the 2nd string is much weaker. It is. But no one forces you to rotate LIKE THIS (!!!). 100% on Frank and his fuckup. Who in the right mind would rotate TWO technically best attackers AND the best midfielder of this season ALL AT ONCE? That's full idiot move. I told in local fanclub Facebook group long before kickoff that this lineup is chosen very poorly. Yea, OK, we were more or less forced to play Richie there, even though he had horrorshow vs Wolves. But come on ?!?! Benching Xavi AND Kudus both? + Palhinha? That is criminally poor call.

And so then - 1st half proved what a shit idea it was, but miraculously we went to interval 0:0. Chance to get back to drawing board. Switch Bentncur for Palhinha and pull off Sarr (absolutely not ready for yesterdays game - not a shit player, but a shit performance) to have Xavi on #10. As alternative to proposed 2nd sub - > pull off Sarr for Kudus to have a go on the wing and make Johnson a SS behind Richie. Anyway - it was painfully clear that we need massive change, or else we will fall behind. He failed to respond to his own fuckup, and we went behind (!) before he could make a first substitution.

Saying that "it shows great spirit to fight back" is absolute garbage and pathetic excuse. WE DID THIS TO OURSELVES! You cannot say "but I was limping" as an excuse for shit 10 km run time... if you decide to shoot yourself in the leg with a shotgun. It is caused by yourself and not winning against Bodo is total and unmitigated failure. There is NOTHING to take from that game. Nothing at all. No pride or anything.

He needs to learn how to rotate without team playing like League Two side. Rotation is absolutely essential over long season. But you cannot handle it like this. If we decided to throw in a game, then we could have also rested Mickey, Porro, Spence, Bergvall and Richie and play with B-list players and U18 :D - seriously doubt that this option would have looked worse than what we had to endure yesterday. First 65 minutes could have been worse Spurs performance I've seen in last 15 years.
