Any fanbase complains about their manager's lack of proactivity when it comes to making subs. The guy in question always waits too much to change things, takes the wrong players off, puts the wrong players in and so on.

It's also hard to tell how much of his overall reluctance in that regard is due to him not liking his options on the bench, which would be totally fair: Changing things for the hell of it doesn't make sense if you do not consider the guy coming in to be an upgrade over the one coming out.

These being said, a refusal to make subs against Bodo until the 60th minute in a game where we were absolutely battered by a Championship team, and also the incident from yesterday where two players waited for over 5 minutes to get into the game, could be a sign of things to come.

I thought the timing of the subs was fine yesterday. It is just a lack of quality. We are better than last season, obviously. But we just need better players it is that obvious, any manager would struggle.

Kane left because Spurs dropped out of the champions league places and were only signing players who needed to develop - they were building for the future, not the present.

If they wanted Kane to stay, they needed to demonstrate that the target of 23/24 season was to WIN the premier league, and to sign players that would facilitate that - not Werner, Veliz, Johnson and Richarlison.

Kane was never going to stay when he could see our backup CB pairing was Emerson Royal and Ben Davies,

So Harry told this over a drink then?

Don't post melodramatic disingenuous shite then.
Can you elaborate? Are you trying to say that the current level of performances is good enough for us to finish 5th?
We've had an easy run of fixtures to start the season and are currently joint 5th, but we are only 2 points ahead of 11th place. With the upcoming fixtures, all betting companies would have it extremely likely that we will be in a midtable position by November.

We aren't playing well. The midfield balance looks all wrong and we aren't creating enough chances from open play. We are extremely passive on the ball and appear to be set up to stop the opposition playing rather than actually trying to dominate games.

What is my disingenuous shite? You've been talking down to me for the last 6 months as if you are some sort of superior poster yet you've all your posts hidden and I've never seen you involved in a constructive debate on here. This is your chance. Please explain to me your opinion on the current events and stop just abusing people because you don't like what they are saying.

...and there was me thinking it was just because he wanted a trophy in double quick time. Sounds like it was far more complex than that. To be fair on Harry, Harry, I didn't know he could analyse in such detail. Looks like I underestimated him. Yeah, no, definitely.

The fanbase of this club activley plays a part in holding it back.

Its unreal.

I slate the club plenty but I like to think I slate them fairly when they aren't putting in a shift. I call bullshit.

Yesterday we played well yet the stadium still erupted into boos at the end which was the loudest we had been all afternoon.
It was embarrassing.

Is it any wonder we are ranked amongst the most deluded, entitled and worst fanbases in the top flight by neutrals?
Bullshit

Frank has been saddled with Odebert and Tel hasn't he?

I think he attempted to rotate players yesterday, against a weakened, out of form Villa, with one eye on Monaco.

After the early goal Spurs lost the midfield.

If Frank had hooked Odebert and Tel, put Bergval in, as an extra man in midfield, and put Richarlison up front with Kudus, could it have been any worse?

If Frank has to accomodate players, because some other plank agreed to the club buying them, he will fail like every other manager has who has been asked to polish the turds.

Odebert, Tel and Gray are not yet good enough for the Spurs starting 11.

Is that even controversial?

Yes, you are right.

But it is Franks job to utilize the options that we have right now. He did not do it yesterday in my eyes at least.
100%. i like frank, but am starting to get slightly worried already now, hes still playing this bentancur and pal double when its clearly an awful balance for games we need to be assertive, you only need one who is going to break up play, pal is perfect for that, the other one needs to be able to break the lines and get us up the pitch, bentancur is not that guy. its not rocket science!

as soon as you saw bentancur and tel in the starting lineup you knew it was going to be tough...he had options for us to be far more optimistic.

Emery brought on Watkins and Buendia on 61 mins and them changes swung the momentum. We just changed striker. Frank waited until they scored before bringing on Bergvall and Muani on 79 mins. It took him 18 mins to respond to the changes and the momentum of the game swinging away from us.

It was a statement of intent from Emery.

He knew the game was there for the taking and he showed the ambition to do it.

Emery waited until Frank showed his hand, when he brought on Richarlison, and responded with a better double substitution.

Villa were better equipped to go on and win the game from that point on.

We didn't play well and haven't really for all our homes games this season.

Poor home performances following on from an unbelievable poor Prem season last year and you are wondering why there are boos.

People don't have any patience and why should they , what are we on rebuild number 4 in 5 years.

Can't stand posts where the fan base is put down, the fan base is the best thing at our club and that includes the stadium.
I don't suppose you include yourself in the entitled fan base.

You need to clean your ears out maaaate. Thats not what Frank said in his presser at all.

"I think the way the game panned out was exactly how I expected it to be..." He's talking about the way the two teams played, not the result, you div.
My bad if I misheard it.

But then my question still remains, if he had expected the way the two teams played, was what he setup yesterday meant to win? Because after we scored we became so passive in our energy to score another until they equalised. We came back fighting once more right after the break but the levels dropped again and they scored the 2nd. And TBH, his subs showed nothing of a tweak to change things.

His presser is all about the details, even one journalist said so, but our games had showed otherwise.

I'm as pissed off as you are, trust me.

He has a huge test coming up in the next 6 weeks trying to rotate players and find some combinations that work with almost no gaps between games.
