Precisely!

Fans aren't stupid, we know there are no attacking options beyond Kudus and Johnson when he's on it. Fans would understand that against certain sides we need to be pragmatic until reinforcements arrive.

Spurs support as a whole and historically are too focused on style of play. This goes for media as well.

No one wants to see suicidal losing football.

It's not any more entertaining to throw everyone forward and fail to score than it is to play a low block and try to get a point. I would rather see us align with two banks of four men and get a point than losing in any style. Losing is not entertaining.

Style is not the point, results are the point - What can we achieve today. Style did not win us the Europa final.

Nothing succeeds like success. Get results.
Good post... I agree results are everything... but there is context. We would all take a hard fought, defensive master class that ends with us winning 1-0 with a set piece goal against Woolwich... but you don't want to see the team play like that against Wolves and I mean no disrespect to them.

The issue with Saturday, is that it was the same performance as almost every game against Chelsea for 6+ years under 6 managers.
Sure, it was similar to other home games this season, but I'm at the stage where us losing to Chelsea is as routine as us beating City.
It's an anomaly whereby we can be the form team and they can be in all sorts of array, and we just don't show up. It happens so often now.
That performance, irregardless of who we were playing was an absolute disgrace. Didn't matter that we were playing Chelsea, we'd have been shite regardless of the opposition, because it's how we've played all season. Massively rode our luck, I said weeks ago this would happen because it's completely unsustainable. Now we're being found out. We have one game plan. Of you can nullify us from wide areas and don't concede corners, we're probably the easiest team in the league to play against.

It's pathetic.

Let's take Seymenyo for example. He's out of our reach now, but had we gone with a no nonsense 80 million in the summer we'd probably of got him.

I just don't understand it, it would of been a huge transfer for us, properly replacing Son. It was obvious he had the quality and elite skill set to be one of the top performers in the PL.

But yet we'd rather take the risk with 60 million on players who look decent, but not elite...or haven't even graced the PL.
I believe Levy was loathe to spend at peak value for any asset. He would much rather have paid for younger players who he might be able to sell for more later than for proven commodities that could make an immediate impact on the pitch

Conservative, risk averse football only works if you're getting results, if you're not like it or not fans have a right to demand more especially the prices that we pay to watch it and don't expect fans in the ground to put up with it - that's the times we live in and our fanbase are a pretty impatient bunch, they won't buy into negative football unless we are winning matches.

People expecting instant solutions to long term problems need a reality check, our squad is awful and we do not possess a single world class or even elite attacking player.
We are not that bad. Defenders, keeper and DMs are very good. The manager has to work out an attacking formula, so far he has failed and seems doesn't know which players to start or rely on, so far he is experimenting with poor results. Let's hope he gets it right in the next few weeks.

I think we are saying the same things. It's a results driven business. When you lose it doesn't matter how. For my part if you win it shouldn't matter how either. A win will season any dreary dinner.

Just re our transfer policy I posted this in levy thread when I first joined and sums us up

Effectively we wanted trossard to act as cover for son but wouldn't pay the money Brighton wanted while that lot down the road did.
Instead we got in danjuma on loan, then manor Solomon, then Werner on loan for 18 months and then odobert and arguably Tel.
After all those movements we still don't have a player as good as Trossard and have squandered so much money.
And Trossard is still playing at that lot down the road.

i'd like to see us pair pahlinha with a more forward thinking player like sarr or bergval at home at least. when udoggie is back stick simons on the left cutting in and possibly put kudus at the ten with johnson on the right. certainly not perfect but i think we'd be a bit more ambitious going forward. bentancur and pahlinha are just too conservative and then you take romero out like yesterday and no one wants to take a chance with a ball forward.

having said all that, i don't know what frank was thinking yesterday with the initial selection before bergval got hurt. i'd have put simons on the left and sarr at the ten with bergval on for bentancur.

Then the new owners, need to come down on the side Frank.

I like both Djed and VdV, but their behaviour, was disgusting to be honest.

And quite frankly, both were at fault for the goal.

Sick of hear about players revolt, from squad that's full of mediocre shyte.

With Frank on this one.
Yeah. Those guys need to realise they have done nothing as players to be at or near the top of the PL. And nothing to be at the sharp end of the CL. Fuck all.

Always we were looking for a bargain, and so often we cycled through 3 or 4 bargains and still hadn't found a bargain.

Well after Kane it'll be Richarlison. He's 60 million. Oh, drat, he's shite. Well we'll get Solanke in for 55 million. Oh, he was average and now he's rarely available. Right then, bring in a striker from the ambitious team that bought Kane, a striker whom they are giving up on as they succeed with the good player they bought from us! We'll spend 30 million on him. Damned the luck he's also shite. But really it's the injuries you know. Who could have seen all this coming?

It's an example. Who knows but you get the point I'm making.

We've never really pushed the boat out enough.

Exactly. I said we always go for the cheaper signings and then get told the likes of richy was 60m etc but the fact of the matter is if you want the better attacking players they will cost more than 60m in most cases plus they want 150-200k a week and levy was not prepared to do that.

Postecoglou overachieved with the talent of the squad at his disposal. This is what the facts say; what the history books will show, and, most importantly, what our Trophy Cabinet will hold forever.

You can demean or diminish that Trophy as much as you like but it's pointless. It serves only to make you feel better about something that brings you pain when it should bring you joy. You care more about shit fights on forums than trophies in cabinets. It's a shame for you but it's part of the wider pathology I warned you about last year and is now coming true as Frank struggles to deal with a meh squad and injuries in key areas.

The difference is - as always - that I will support Frank based on facts and data and context until it's no longer right to support him (again, based on those metrics). All the things that the usual motley collection of sacky sacks have chucked out at the first sign of trouble.

And yes the Club had every right to sack Postecoglou. A decision I agreed with. But I also acknowledge ghe overperformed with the squad available. Which is why I know the mountain Frank has to climb and how big a task he has ahead of him.

Its a curse always being right. I am a latter day Cassandra. But I'll struggle on. You see I took genuine joy from the wonderful night in Bilboa. It gets me through nights like last night. That's how its supposed to work. 😍

The injuries, confounded the the shit storm

Welcome sanity from Winter.

And scum pushing for the title again is nothing to do with Frank.

In fact, he's having to deal with the aftermath of Baldcunt's desecration of this squad and the poverty 'depth' of it, to try and carry CL football on top of trying to make Europe again (with key injuries).

Scum have done what a club does if they're serious about sustained achievement at the highest level and have good quality depth underneath a super strong starting 11.

They haven't just talked about it, conning the fans.

People need to not load Baldcunt's failings on top of Frank.

Penny-wise
Pound-foolish

Tel and Odobert combined are a Seymenyo.

Same money, give or take. But no, we always do this.

£80m for Seymenyo and we could probably either win things and/or flip in a few years for £100m+

We will be lucky to get £30m for both Tel and Odobert combined. Genius.

Unless we find a way to play them into form for a whole season at some point we won’t be recouping either of their fees. Club is afraid to take Ls while growing youth, but also refuses to pay for the quality that would enable it compete- either the expectations need to change, or the approach needs to be changed.
