This is basically us

We have an almost Gooner level set of defenders minus a spare left back to cover Udogie properly.

A Man United or Palace level set of midfielders.

An Everton set of attackers.

We arent miles off being a really good team but need to make the right upgrades if we are to build consistent success.

Porro is bang out of form after being overplayed for 18 months, so play Spence at RB, Udogie at LB (and make buying another LB a priority in January!). This is the type of team we should be picking at home. The game is about glory after all ...

Agree that needs to be the team we run with now in home games where we should dominate the ball.

I expect Frank to still be Mr.Cautious in away games though, starting with the scum.

- For starters, it's obviously much better than last season and it's going to take time to organize a team that played kamikaze football for 2 years.
- Our defense is good. We're short a left back but I imagine we'll get a quality one in
- We have a lot of exciting young players to play the two central midfield positions, some combination has to click at some point
- Xavi is looking better and better and I'm sure will be the top 4 standard playmaker we've needed. And when Maddison gets back, even better.
- When Solanke and Kulusevski coming back and Muani getting up to speed, we will hopefully have seen the beginning of the end of Johnson and Richarlison at Spurs, to everyone's relief.
- I want Tel and Odobert to be understudies at this stage in their careers, but both of them are getting better with this game time

Agree with this, its not going to happen overnight.
However I'd like him to take the hand brake off when needed.

You mean the one where we had no European football and went out of domestic cups after about five minutes? That one? The one we scraped 5th in?

Also lol @ ‘arguably slightly weaker’ when we had Son contributing to 27 league goals. Mate, our forwards now will do well to do that collectively. Let alone score some of the individual goals Son could - that season he had 13 expected assists, our entire attack combined so far probably has about 3.

Just sent him this via Whats App. Frank is ever so grateful for your thoughts and will be contacting you imminently to offer you an Assistant Coaching job so you can tell him and the squad in person the error of his ways.

He was genuinely excited at the suggestion of playing vertical passes as he believed this was not possible under the rules of Association Football (which he'd got mixed up with the rules of Rugger...)

how my matches did we play that season?

And despite that - remind me of how we did the last few matches when we werfe in 4th position and everyone around was either in Europe or the cups?

You actually need to start looking at facts for a change

Finishing 5th, two seasons ago, is a fact. A pretty decent achievement given we had a new manager and lost a generational striker at the start of the season.

Why you think we shouldn't be achieving at least that this year, is up for debate. My point, is that our squad now, compared to then, isn't that different. Slightly better midfield now compared to then but slightly weaker attack....in my humble opinion.

And obviously, two different managers with two completely different philosophies. One who like playing on the front foot and taking risks, and one who likes playing conservatively and waiting for the opposition to make mistakes.

It is though and we weren't playing midweek matches either - it's quite a disingenuous comparison if you ask me.
