Firstly, I didn't boo Vicario, or the team at HT or even at FT; I never (OK hardly ever) do. I was there to the bitter end and just shrugged and walked off as usual this season to start my miserable 90 minute journey home.
But for Frank to call those thousands that did boo Vicario "not real fans" is completely unacceptable; I'm not sure I like it, and I'm sure it didn't help his confidence, but I understand it and believe they had every right to express their dissatisfaction in that way. These would have been mostly season ticket holders, hard working people who turn up week in, week out to support this bunch of over paid and badly coached young millionaires. I'm an ST holder, so yesterday cost me about £260 (two Cat B tickets, F&B, parking, fuel); how people with young families and mortgages can afford to pay that 19 times a season is beyond me.
Yesterday's performance was terrible, but not unexpected (in fact it's exactly what I expected), and Vicario's cock-up was the straw that broke the camel's back. It could have been anyone, but it was him. If he or Frank don't like it, then tough.
For me yesterday was the turning point. I think he's lost the players and now he's thrown thousands of fans under the bus. And to think I'll be back there on Saturday. It's madness.
Out. Now.
