Are you Frank Out or In?

I'm happy to flip back to 'in' if we have a lot more of what we watched today. I don't mean bully everybody - that's completely unrealistic - I mean fight for everything, press, show, never stop never stopping. All for one etc.

Beating Brentford at home is good to see but let's keep things in perspective here.

We have been awful to watch under Frank. Today, one game, we were a good watch.

Well that's exactly the type of performance he desperately needed. Takes the pressure off for Frank and gives fans glint of hope for the first time in a while.

The line-up made sense, almost everyone played well/very well, the tactics worked and we were solid and a good watch for the whole 90. Brentford were average at best, but we pretty much completely dominated them in a way few other teams have, which is encouraging.

Fingers crossed this is us 'clicking' in the way he described and it's the start of something. If we can play that well regularly then Frank might get a 2nd season after all. But need we need to show some consistency now and show up against better teams.

Yeah that's why I have been worried. Even if we're inconsistent you want to see some positive signs and it has been tough to find them. It looked surprisingly good today and I hope it was a sign that things are improving rather than a false dawn.

Until the first goal I still thought we looked a bit uninterested but once that went in they all relaxed.

Anyone noticed how shit we are at throw ins? Everyone hides from the ball.

It’s one of the things that makes me think it’s the players that are the problem.

If they can get themselves up to play like that today why didn’t they v Man U or Fulham? There’s a long way to go before I can trust this group.

There’s no indication whatsoever that we will collapse the same way we did under Ange. Look a lot more stable.

And if we take Vicario, Romero, VDV and Udogie out for 3 months. How stable would we look?

Woolwich have lost Saliva and Gobbriel for 3 matches and dropped 5 points. Injuries matter.

Which is why the people who attacked Frank for resting VDV on Tuesday might want to reconsider their positions. That was brave management under huge pressure.

I do think it helped that we had a balanced line-up and approach, though. There have been previous games under Frank where the players have had the physical commitment but the entire system has basically been dysfunctional or the players clearly haven't understood everything asked of them.

Felt like today there was a good synergy between the tactics and the profile of players on the pitch. While Frank is pragmatic, in almost all of the games against mid/table and lower teams it's felt like he hasn't really known our best 11 and has been searching. Today's the closest he's come to finding it.

You could have cited matchday 2 when we were second in the league and stated an even bigger step forward? Since then we've been 12th so slid 10 places and now up 3 places. We're in a situation when we could easily slide back down to 12th, considering that's where Manchester United are with the same 22 points

It's not really a big step forward at this stage is it?

Disingenuous argument. They’ve played Chelsea and Villa away. Both clubs were 2nd when they played them. They won their ‘normal’ game with injuries - they’ve lost plenty of big away games against the most in form league sides in previous seasons while fully fit. If when/they now go and beat Everton and wolves with those injuries the argument doesn’t look very strong at all. They were highly competitive in both the matches.

I honestly think we’d be fine. I don’t think this system is as reliant on individuals. We’d obviously be worse but wouldn’t collapse/be a mess facing actual relegation fears.

We've been a lot more down than up, with nothing really to indicate things will get better. Today was encouraging, needs to ensure he builds on it and I'm not just talking about results. We need to see improved performances going forward
Was this talk going on last season with ange? Yes it’s not been ideal this season. Feel like Ange got so much more wiggle room with the media especially and to a smaller extent fans. Let the new manager have a couple more transfer windows to buy players he wants, and also get rid of the deadwood he doesn’t.

What are we doing now, giving a new manager one transfer window before getting rid of him? Frank was allowed to sign one player and bring 2 on in on loan for fuck sake. Yes we won the EL, but lose that coin flip of a game last season and it’s our worst since the 70s?? Think quite a lot of fans have forgotten about that. No Maddison or Kulu. Solanke too but I think Frank will sell him as soon as possible.

The way we played today is how Brentford played under him, after he had time to establish his principles and gel the team properly and get them fluid and connsistent.

Give him the season to bring it all together.

Then what do we look like?

Let’s not pretend that some of the dogshit performances weren’t how Brentford played under him too. Reactive (to opposition or game state), passive, some good bits, plenty of shite.

This is the thing with Frank’s appointment. What’s the best it can look like based on what we know?

Kudus Simons Takai, so 3, that's not including the 2 loan players Danso and Tel who became our own players after Frank was employed. Whether he had any say in those transfers IDK.
I’m sure Danso was an obligation to buy loan so he was joining whatever. Maybe right with Tel, i think Frank green lighted but is a club purchase like Spence was.

Takai would be 5th choice at best with everyone fit, Frank would have had zero initial input in this signing and would’ve gone out on loan if fit.

Think it’s very harsh to label an obligation to buy loan and 2 other club signings as Frank’s choices. Tel definitely isn’t a Frank signing and we don’t know how much say he had on the final transfer being converted from loan.

He obviously likes Kev but he’s definitely an Ange transfer😬 none of these lads are Frank transfers, he’s ended up with them👍

Are Simons and Kudus Frank signings?
