The expectations / standards have clearly dropped since Nuno days, where people unconditionally wanted him out as early as week 6. There was no pondering on who would replace him, whether it would be better to wait until the summer for more managers to become available or whatnot.

He had 9 points when the following thread was created, and actually reached to 15 in 8 games before losing the next 2 to get sacked.

Meanwhile Frank had 14 points in his first 8, and this place was nearly ecstatic. He so far has gotten 7 more league games than Nuno did,and has collected only 7 more points. Yet all kinds of caveats and qualifications are still getting added to the discussion surrounding his fate. Just get him out, tea lady could do a better job than this!! is hardly the sentiment the way it was with Nuno.

Is this sharp of a drop in standards warranted just because we no longer have a Kane or a Son, since the remaining 9 spots in Nuno's team were also filled with bang average players let's be honest? I don't think so. I mean, look at this:

If Frank had 9 of this 11, people would be talking about how rough he was having it.

When Pochettino arrived, his only certainties where Eriksen and Lloris.

There was massive doubts over everyone else. Let’s not try to rewrite history.

WTF how are you even getting agrees? This was full Kyle Walker, Vertonghen era. Kane was scoring in PL games and Adabayor had a goal every 2 games season.

For the additional here: who exactly are the 'certainties' in this squad??

I dont think anyone wants Frank here beyond the end of the season, they'd have to be massive improvement, getting top 6 with real signs of playing style improving but just dont see it. Think he's already a dead duck.

But its all about timing. Who can we get in the next few weeks? The last thing we need is another panic appointment thats here for a few months. None of the world cup managers are going anywhere, including Poch. Likes of Glasner, De Zerbi may be possible but they''d likely wait with potentially Chelsea, Man U and others as possibilities in the summer.
I don't think anyone wants him here beyond the end of this year mate. I've seen enough or to re-phrase, I haven't seen nearly enough to warrant him being in charge for Brentford game. The Spurs manager post is still one of the top jobs in world football. A number of fans might not agree, but it is. And whilst we might not be able to get anyone in who is currently in a job, that wouldn't stop me making a change. If you are convinced Frank is a dead duck, then put him out of his misery and put Carrick in charge as a caretaker with the promise he will be considered for the job if he get's us Top 7... which I think is still feasible with this squad and a couple of loan signings in January.

Lloris was a world cup winner and was superb keeper for us. I think people have very short memories.
Moura would walk into to this team and Hojbjerg levels above any midfielder we have.
I could even make a case that this version of Dier would be in contention to start most weeks.

How can this squad be 'massively underachieving' though if this is better than they've done for over a year?

The main reason why we're 14th is Vicario and Romero making mistakes.
I see the Derangers have gone from “any half decent manager will have us flying up the table” to “14th is better than we should have expected” :roflmao:

The fucking chutzpah of you people is next level. I genuinely admire it - or I would if you hadn’t been such incessant nasty bullies all last season.

It’s now very very clear who the “cultists” were - and it ain’t those who just wanted to stick by the manager for once. This is next level gaslighting from the same fucking clowns who continue to diminish our European trophy win because they’re so obsessed with winning some sort of battle over the last manager.

So desperate… and desperately sad.

With no Europe, and Ange exited both domestic cups immediately.

Wasn't exactly impressive outside of the first 10 games, and certainly not this point onwards in 23/24.

A lot of the above is also Maddison, Son, and Kulusevski - none of which we have now
I thought he fucked off with Ange.
Stick him on ignore, almost everyone else has. He'll argue with you to his dying breath.

Just like transfers, buy cheap and buy twice, let’s just get it right first time.
It's potentially worse than that. We could miss out on all of them by appointing a half arsed candidate now who is "enough" but not great.
We'll go into next season with Mr Enough at the helm and next season is a write off. Meanwhile, all of those great candidates all got new jobs in the summer and not a single one of them is moving.

The post Frank era conspiracies have begun then?

:gallashmm:

No, my point is that people seem to be suggesting we are underperforming - or at least have some higher expectation - and others are still trying to convince everyone that Ange would be doing better.

As far as I'm concerned, there's clearly a transition phase required here to change the mentality towards league performances, and I don't think any manager would be doing much better. We saw Mourinho and Conte - two 'elite' managers (if not verging into dinosaur territory) - complaining about the same thing.

It's baffling because you'll get people identifying that Vicario is a liability, Romero is a liability, Udogie is now a bit shit and brittle, Porro is shit, Bentancur is shit, Xavi is a bit shit, etc etc, but at the same time talking like we should be up there with City. Not at all saying that Frank is the answer here, but I also don't think another upheaval is, either.

Ok I'm going back it up a bit here.

This clubs' objective this season as well as last season is Champions League qualification. Not winning the PL. Not winning the FA Cup/League Cup. Its Champions League qualification ie Top 4 finish. Van den Ven literally said that recently.

At this time last season we were 11, top 4 was soon out of reach and the focus was on rotating the squad to target winning the Europa as the only remaining pathway to the Champions League (and to finally win a trophy again).

Mission accomplished.

That isn't evidence of some mentality deficiency-On the contrary this is a platform for Frank to build on!

The fact is the players haven't bought in to how he wants to play, he can't motivate them, and there is no settled system or starting eleven, more than 6 months including a full pre-season after he got here.

I am not sure if you are a Franatic or a Deranger but I am sure you need some help...

Here you go Samaritans - Here to listen

This is where I’m at! The teams below us are far worse so we won’t go down.

I hope Frank makes it click, but I can’t remember a single game where we have looked anything like a team who have a plan.

January will be interesting, if the club will get rid of Frank in the summer (unless something huge changes then I believe they will) I just hope they have a profile of manager they want to buy some players who will fit that
I think Brighton away was our best performance from a footballing perspective. For 25 minute spell we played some good stuff. there’s been nothing else. Even the games we’ve won the football hasn’t been good.West Ham and Everton were built on set pieces

Can’t wait until he leaves personally. Might be a nice guy but I can’t watch this for another 5 months

OR... winning at least one game and scoring a goal is significantly better than the "we should get Ange back" alternative.

Because the man was totally useless in the premier league

Near half a season update on through balls for those interested, which has been a matter of discussion and bewilderment here. Let's start with the definition because simply posting numbers would be pointless if not disingenuous without knowing what they're referring to:

Not super clear admittedly, but still enough to allow us to create a mental image of some sort I reckon.

As a side note, assuming that Keith Andrews has largely kept intact what he inherited from Frank, it's interesting to see how low Brenford are also ranked there.

It would be a reach to call this a pattern with Frank and his teams based on this data alone, but there could be something there to take a deeper look at.

The people suggesting we "should get Ange back" are a tiny percentage that you are making a massive straw man out of.

The point is that you are now making the kinds of excuses for Frank that you never once extended to the previous manager - how can you expect anyone to take you seriously when you have zero consistency in you approach?

Just admit you were wrong to suggest there was a managerial silver bullet that would fix everything that went wrong last season

And ffs stop diminishing the one truly great thing that came out of last season. It just makes you look so weird.
