I’ve pretty much gone beyond blaming this or that manager , we could get Pep in , Klopp , after a while we’d revert to the status quo .

There’s a mental apathy at the club & has been for years. Too to bottom , we’ll have the odd highlight & many meh moments

The players are comfortable, the backroom staff will be seen to be trying without any real goal or direction. Talk the talk but with the current owners it’ll always be a gesture rather than ambition, has been for decades
Exactly this , they as a club seem to except just chugging along they got a structure in place to make money…..the stadium! .. as for what Tottenham Hotspur are is a football team/club we the fans want success we crave it but we will get nowhere if the decision makers dont share the same ambition and you can’t blame managers & players/ squads they’ve all been different era’s they can’t all think the same but the owners can! What rubbish they must tell new signings in order for them to sign? What did they say to Simons that he’s given 7years of his career to us! Sack Frank tomorrow in 6months we will have the same issues but it will be different posters wanting the next guy out and so it goes on, and on. After the CL final Levy should have promoted us to every agent/player in Europe improved us , should have listened to Pochettino and went with a major overhaul but no we chugged along……forget about a A list manager/coach after Frank it’s not happening if he makes to the summer then a a change we know who’s coming!

So had we won the final 10-0 would you have celebrated winning out first trophy in 17 years? It’s actually unbelievable the lengths of mental gymnastics you will go to in discrediting our win! :sonpoint:

Being a spurs fan is bad enough , however not even being able to enjoy the little moments must be even worse , all because you can’t bring yourself to admit that even though it was right to sack Ange he also done something no one else of recent history could and that was win us a trophy ,
The game is about Glory! Anyway this is getting very fucking boring , go and shout at some clouds or something
There is a narrative that VdV and Romero were commanding the team in the Europa League victories.

So we don't know if Postecoglou is rightly taking the plaudit. Those knock out stage matches certainly weren't playing Postecoglou's usual way.

I agree. 8 of these players have been with us under 3 permanent managers now, Romero, Spence, Porro, Davies, Bentancur, Bissouma Richarlison, Kulusevski.

Ok some havent played under some of the managers but a lot of them couldnt hack Conte and wanted out if he stayed, they coasted along under Postecoglou like they couldnt give a shit and they're underperforming again now. I'd cut Davies some slack as his attitude is always great, if not his ability and Kulusevski gets a pass due to injury but i think the rest need to be moved on in the not too distant future. There are some others like Vicario they can take with them.

I reckon its a bit like when Poch came and had similar with Adebayor, Kaboul and Capoue. Doesnt matter about ability, if the attitude and culture amongst the players is wrong you'll be stuffed.

This is so weird. Anyone who has seen VDV talk about Ange knows that he made that entire team believe...

They fucking believed.

And they won that trophy.

Ange was a very flawed Manager and the 22 losses meant he had to be sacked. But that trophy belongs to him - just ask Mickey.

This revisionism is pure copium from Derangers.

We just have to hope Frank can instill similar belief while providing a more stable platform. We should support him not undermine him like the Derangers did with Ange

(Unless it becomes untenable of course)

I believe....

I believe we are going nowhere under Frank

I believe his football is from the dark ages

I believe he should never have been hired

I believe he should be sacked

Can I get an amen?

If I'm honest, this bugs me no end. Truth is they just won us a European trophy we last seen in 40 years. Not even the some of the greatest players we have seen in the last 40 years lifted that but them.

And on the contrary, I think these lads hate losing more now after winning EL. But what can they do that they are under the coaching of coward Frank? Throwing some tantrums on field to get sent off? Blanking the managers? Even possibly, I'm starting to suspect, taking their own sweet time to come back from injuries so they could play as little time as possible under Frank.

I think that's quite a conspiracy theory. If any players were purposefully getting sent off or pretending to be injured, it doesn't make them heroes but more worthy of being moved on.

But for the other part, you can't hang on to players (or managers) because they just won a trophy. If that was the case, we'd have got relegated under Ramos and would be hanging onto Chimbonda, Zokora, Malbranque, Thudd etc.

Porro and Bentancur are both examples of players who had bright starts but have frustrated as time has gone one. They've both played under Conte, Ange, and Frank (with some interims in-between) and haven't proven to be worth holding onto.

Frank has done well to spot the players in our squad who aren’t up for it… issue is, he can’t get the good players to play well together

Porro had a poor start but developed into a pretty decent RB, even sorting out his defensive side quite a bit. He was probably our most effective passer/creator after madison last couple of seasons but had struggled this season. Probably a combination of franks tactics and the team being under the cosh more often. He barely played for conte. I don’t see him as an issue.

Only players who could pass were Kane, Maddison and Son. Son couldn’t control the ball if he received it in a tight space. Solanke can hold the ball up and gather it in but is injured. Kulu can do simple pass and move but has issues wiht control.

That’s it. Those are the players over the past however many seasons that can be relied on to pass or receive the ball and hold it up or do something with it. That’s it.

And three of those are injured and the other two have left the club.

Oh, Dier and Hjojberg could; Biss on occasion, Bentancur when he first arrived for Conte, pre-injury.

Is it any wonder we are playing how we are? There’s no possible ‘patterns’ if the ball never reaches you or bounces off a player into the path of the opposition. I wouldn’t bother running either.

Sure, Postecoglou motivated the team, but according to VdV Romero and he persuaded him to change tactics, and he then delegated those two players to organise the tactic, and ensure the other players understood. While he stood on the side line with his hands in his pockets.

Put it another way, I have no experience whatsoever in football management or coaching but even I could say to those two CBs ''good idea, go organise it''. I don't recall Postecoglou given either of them any merit for it, he just went on about how good he is with the second season trophy.

Thing is Frank was bought into to improve upon what Ange had done ie winning something and get us higher up the league. All the while getting us playing football which had us defensively sound but also playing front foot football like under poch. If he fails in this then there are potentially a lot of managers available next summer. Are the club not gonna be interested in say Poch, glassner, nagglesmamm, de zirbi etc. Surely the club will think these guys are better than Frank if he doesn’t show any improvement over Ange.
Wtf is your point? I said give him until end of season.

Fuck me I think nearly everyone on this forum can spot those. Thin gruel if that’s all we can praise him for
It's a start. If the new regime can prove to be more decisive in shifting our deadwood, I believe that alone could improve our performances on the field. We haven't been decisive about selling players since the earliest days of Poch, when he went through the playing squad with a hatchet and chisel. The same profile of player that was failing us then is failing us now; our squad is riddled with "coulda", "shoulda", and "woulda" players that treat our facilities like a country club and are happy to point the blame elsewhere for their own failures. Half the club needs to be shown the door, even some of the players that I like a fair amount. Every last one of them has flattered to deceive; the major question for the coaching staff should be determining which players have more to offer, and to treat them as the narrow backbone on which to build a new squad.

There is not one player in this team I would be bothered about if Spurs sold them.

Not one.

I've never felt like that about Spurs.

Especially a trophy winning team.

God help some of these cunts if they ever come to financially rely upon doing after dinner speaking or supporters evenings.

Frank also has doesn't have Maddison or kulu for majority of the season cause of injury and they were a crucial part of the team when ange was here. Not to mention sarr and Solanke.

We have been relying on Richardson..
