It's fairly straightforward, for me. If we have a manager who has a definite philosophy that includes a set up to play positive, attacking, football while not neglecting defensive shape, I will be prepared to give him support. If, on top of that, the manager has a track record of demonstrable competence with a significant club, and solid experience of running teams in multiple competitions including in Europe, he will have my enthusiastic backing.

Nice man though he may be, Thomas Frank has none of this. I was initially persuaded by those extolling his coaching excellence. I was naive, because that coaching excellence is conspicuous by its absence.

Remove Frank now. Get in a man with a vision compatible with the club ethos, and a track record. Back that manager with money to get in players capable of delivering his vision. Get rid of the driftwood. There is no reason wait.
Which manager? We need such a top man to attract players…..the big names will not come to us in the state we are currently in….they might if we had a top guy in charge and a bucketful of money.

Wow, some statement.. We lost yesterday, shipping three goals, vs the mighty "11 matches without a win" Bournemouth.

And since when did this club win things, not to say comfortably?

When we finally picked up a cup again winning Europe last year, some of the posters here can't ridicule it enough.. when do you find joy in following Spurs?
They absolutely HATE that it was a know-nothing Australian rather than one of their accomplished European faves that got it done.

These same people insist that “Mourinho would have definitely won us the 2021 league Cup vs City” - ignoring that we got smashed 3-0 by them a few weeks prior and the path to the final was a bye vs Leyton Orient, Championship Stoke and championship Brentford.

These are the same peole who will tell you that our European Trophy is worthless because we easily brushed aside a terrible Bodo Glimpt side...

Then will applaud how well we are doing in Champions League by scraping a draw against the MIGHTY Bodo Glimpt a few months later :roflmao:

Yep, incredible how and why that bloke is still being mentioned.

Just insane.
Slightly more insane than the constant cries for Poch who, despite having the best team of a generation, won nothing. Then went elsewhere to do nothing since.

I don't want either back but Ange isn't the only ex-manager constantly being mentioned on here.

Also, regarding cupgate...how on earth did no-one in the changing room tell Frank about the logo. He may not have seen it but someone made him the drink, he walked around inside with it - there is no way no-one else didn't notice it.

Every time I come into this thread, I hope for someone to convince me that the right manager is out there waiting for us.

And every time I leave, I think we're gonna get the next one wrong as well.

There just isn't a stand-out candidate :(

Yep, but I don’t care.

It’s been proven not to work in the Prem at a high level and I don’t want a squad full of specialist players when he inevitably gets the bullet.
That's because it's been attempted by dogshit managers.

The players don't respect him.

That has been clear for many weeks, literally on public display.

That can never work. He won't earn their respect whilst the players down tools. He needs to have earned their respect in his roles before joining Spurs, and that's on those that appointed him.

Nuno had the same problem. Clearly the players, especially Kane, didn't respect him.

Like them or not, players respected Mourinho and Conte.

You guys are certainly seeing things I’m not. I’m just seeing an utter and absolute shambles. Poorly trained and poorly motivated players making a hash of even the most simple tasks on the pitch.

You guys are seeing a potential trophy winning manager and squad.

Safe to say we are on different paths here.

Maybe - but their keeper made an excellent save last night so we should have been walking it. Our keeper made no saves. We have two options when assessing last night's game
  1. Vicario should have kept at least one of their goals out (apparently you should expect him to save any)
  2. Petrovic should have not saved at least VDV's header (one which you shouldn't expect him to have saved)
More so, comparing the team we put out and the form they are in, it's crazy to think that some people would take Iraola.

None of this is a "pro-Frank" comment, or a defence of Frank - I think everyone can agree it was one of our best performances, which might not be saying much, but he still outdid Iraola.

We had:
  • More possession
  • More shot, and more on target
  • More passes, and higher pass completion %
  • More xG

I'm not necessarily seeing a team that is overall dropping points justifiably - I'm seeing a team that is conceding goals from nothing, if not manufacturing conceding goals, that is not getting the rub of the green with referees, and that has fine margins between it being 2-0 up or 1-0 down.

Something clearly isn't working, whether or not it's player ability, dressing room/attitude issues, or lacking the killer touch that Deki, Maddison and Solanke have.

Again, this isn't me saying Frank is good or should stay, but the margins between us winning and losing have been so fine recently in terms of the actual football. I'm not seeing the absolute batterings that we had under late Conte/Stellini or last season where we were clining on for dear life and only scoring off counter attacks.

What I would reiterate is how I'm totally not seeing why people would want Iraola

This is now up there with The wally with the brolly fiasco.
