I dont deny theres clearly a hierachy to the cups, but I dont think for a second any manager doesnt care about them

I'm pretty sure Poch outwardly said he didn't see it as a priority, as top 4 was his main goal. Did a lot of weird team selections in cup finals at times, and most clubs play the backup keeper and rarely a full strength squad.

I was quite surprised we didn't see Kinsky the other night tbh

I knew it was Harry's first season that Spurs got to the League Cup final. that is why I said this;

Not sure why you brought that to the table. So for that reason I don't really understand your observation;

"You might notice that was Harry Redknapp's first season in charge, not his last"

I think your incorrect assumption, regarding the chronolgical sequence of Harry Redknapp's Spurs achievements, in my original post is where the error is here.

That's like saying

What a pointless thing to bring up.

The EL win masked how bad this squad is (to some people). We won a competition that had much fewer matches, was knockout style, and against clubs that we dwarfed financially.

Fewer matches - the fewer matches you play, the less confident you are in the results reflecting reality. This is basic stats.

Knockout style - the best teams do better in league format than knockout style. Knockouts have random draws, imbalanced fixtures and are more susceptible to randomness. We all know the team that reached the CL final was not us at our peak.

Financial imbalance - even relegated PL clubs have a bigger budget than most Europa clubs. We only outperformed the Europa clubs.

To go into the new season - with Champion's League football - and to announce that we aspire to compete and win these competitions - and then sign a West Ham winger with one good season; Simons (good but 4th choice and never would have been signed but for Madders injury); and two loans in Palinha and RKM - was... an interesting choice to say the least.

The league is a bit fucked anyway, it's not the greatest of a barometer that can tell you how good or bad a team is doing, not at least until the end of the season. 200k a week.

He'd be way more important than those advocating paying this kind of salary on someone like Semenyo or Eze or Savinho.

I'd be happy for him to come in and say "this season is a write off, I'm here to start the rebuild in the summer. In the mean time, I'm using now until May to see whose joining me on the journey. These players are playing for their Spurs career and a career under me."

This is a real opportunity.

We're very fortunate he's a pseudo-scouser as you just know United would gobble him up otherwise.

That's only £50k more than Frank makes.

Also, there is absolutely no hope in hell he considers us, regardless. That Liverpool job is very nearly available. PSG and Man City in the summer too.

No point getting yourself even remotely hopeful for this one.
