He’s fucking terrible

It was on Frank we didn’t win that.
You don’t start a back 3 against one striker. It’s basic tactics. I said prematch I bet he did it and he did. He’s fucking clueless.

People need to get over their blanket dismissal of a back 3.... We played some of our best ever football with a back 3 under Poch (typically against one ST) and weren't remotely negative.

Back 3 doesnt have to be negative, but IMO most often leads that way*

Especially under someone like Frank who would see an opportunity to put 5 defenders on the pitch, and expect them to get back at the first sign of danger.

*When its someone like Conte, using Perisic/Moses etc - it can be a progressive way of playing, but IMO this is much rarer than it just becoming defensive by default

If you set your MF up right it can be both extra solid defensively AND aggressive.

Again; I point to Poch.

....No doubt in my mind that (when fit) our defensive personnel are best suited to it.

........Although I'd prefer 352 to 343 given our attacking options.

Not saying it cant happen, just that its unlikely

Its very rare to see 352/343 that is genuinely attacking

And I think it even less likely under a manager like Frank who is clearly cautious/risk averse above all else

Nothing changes for me with Frank , I want him gone and I’d get Iraola in , no Europe next season so he can get a chance to get his ideas over , we need to build a squad for him as his teams press relentlessly but I think we’ve got a core of players that suit that style . That first half yesterday was one of the most depressing 45 mins I’ve seen at home , never want to see spurs come out so defeatist again .

lol why Iraola?

His football is not sustainable for a team that plays in europe - it is not even sustainable for a team that doesnt play in europe - and they concede a shit load of goals too.

I have never heard one decent argument for Iraloa other than 'his teams press relentlessly' lol

That’s what you would have said prior to Poch joining . He’s young , he constantly has to sell his best players , plays front foot football we want to see and we have players with pace that can play the higher line . Granted he needs an 18 man squad that he can rotate otherwise he’s not worth taking but I think he ticks the boxes we need . Also have to say his Bournemouth team have probably been the most impressive I’ve seen at the lane this season .

If it wasn't for 2 last gasp injury time goals (Bournemouth and Spam) ....we'd currently be enjoying an 8 match unbeaten run in all comps.
I mean, it would have 6 straight draws in the league, but unbeaten looks better than no wins in 6 with 2 losses

I don't know why we only play in halves (or less) and it's not a new thing for Frank btw, but there is a team there that can play.

This team has played ponderously for years and then woken up, often when behind.
They did it under Conte to the extent I used to joke we'd be better off throwing the ball in our own net early on so we play better for longer.
Angeball was often epitomized by conceding shit goals against low block teams in the first half, then hitting them with a 15-20 minute blitz from the 2nd half kick off.

The levels of delusion in here are staggering. I know we are 14th, but if you actually look at the actual football, Thomas Frank is doing the best tactical job of any Spurs manager in years. We just secured direct qualification for the Champions League Round of 16—finishing 4th in the entire group phase above PSG and Real Madrid—after schooling Frankfurt away. We’ve also just taken a hard-earned point off Manchester City at home.
You’re all moaning about "boring" tactics, but we are finally a disciplined, hard-to-beat unit with an elite set-piece structure. People are calling for his head after a draw at Burnley as if we didn't just see a tactical masterclass against Dortmund. The domestic blip is purely down to an injury crisis that has left 13 players unavailable, including Porro and Richarlison.
With Frank performing at this high level despite the chaos, there is still more than enough time to charge up the table. Mark my words: we will grab a top-four spot this season. Sacking him now while we're in the elite European mix and chase for top four would be pure self-sabotage. Stop the hysteria and let the man cook.
Shadydan Shadydan ?

Personally I think a back 3 of Romero, Danso, Vdv, with Spence and Udogie is the way forward for the remainder of the season.
Both Spence and Udogie are our best wide options imo and are aggressive enough to bolster the midfield when required.

My ideal starting 11 when all fit (not including Kulu/Maddison at present) would be....
Romero, Danso, Vdv.
Spence, Gray, Bergvall, Udogie
Xavi
Solanke Oderbert.
