Player Timo Werner

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

About 200, so not a lot to read in to the numbers this season. 16 in 40 last season all comps.

I read that Leipzig are looking to go the young and foreign route with their squad building and have spent relatively big on a couple of strikers of that mould in the summer - Werner obviously doesn't fit in to that approach and so is a casualty.
Agreed plus Werner is on big bucks and they want the wages on a more equal level. ( from what I read)

😮 I hated him with a passion.
bar his 1st couple of games he was terrible and I was told by someone in the club that he feigned injuries as he never wanted to be here.
to think that them lot paid the same for Ian Wright around the same time bugs me still.
Was so disappointed with Durie. Used to cause us all sorts of problems when playing for Chelsea but didn’t perform at all for us. Waste of space

Most likely he will score 10 goals and only 3 will count with him being offside for the rest.

I'm not going to fall for Timo like all the other fanbases that have gone for him. Everyone says "he can be good for us" and then he's not. At this point, he's just an average player with pace.

You’re not allowed to be honest about how you rate a joining player otherwise you want him to fail according to brainboxes like Will … who are apparently the most incredible fans on earth.

It’s not like there is a space where you can hope to be surprised by how good he is but not expecting much because you know .. we’ve seen this guy play.

It's not that at all. It's that I'm not going to get my hopes up for a player that we all laughed at for years because he was so bad. Admit it, most of us here mocked Chelsea fans for hyping up Werner and now we are doing it.

Just because he's a Spurs player now doesn't mean he's suddenly good. He's still a wasteful pace merchant until he learns to finish.
Everyone would be laughing if Woolwich had just signed him

One thing I'll add about Werner.

He scored 10 goals and provided 9 assists in 56 matches for Chelsea, that's 1 G/A every three games. Which matches many of our attacking players this season.

But in terms of minutes, he's 0.44 G/A per 90. Almost 1 in 2. For a team in which he was derided.

In the right system he has the tools to cook. A loan to buy is practically no-risk.

Have you ever considered going into motivational speaking??

The only risk is of we missed out on a better player whilst signing him instead but tbh I doubt we see a better striker move this January.

Maybe that Marcus Leonardo that went to Benfica but he would have been a punt as well and probably wanted even bigger guarantees of game time.

In true Spurs fans tradition a section of the "cheerful" Spurs fans do not want to give any new player a chance before they've even arrived at the club.
And they will keep on condemning and ripping into that concerning player just to prove themselves right no matter how well that player plays. Because all that matters is that they are "right".
But, as I've stated before in this case.... only Timo will tell...

I think if anything, his pace (unlike Richie) will help with being not caught offside, as he can start his runs from slightly deeper and still make up the ground...
Richie is always level with the defender, so timing is everything (seeing as he isn't lightening quick) he's easier to catch offside as all the defenders have to do is hold their line, and Richie does the rest for them...
Unfortunately, Richie doesn't seem to have learnt the art of staying onside, so keeps getting caught.

I'm not saying I could do any better, but I'm not being paid a sqillion a year to at least adapt my technique!

It’s posts like this that make me wonder if people have ever watched Timo Werner. He was born offside.

I think that's exactly it... There is no one else available in Jan...
A 6 month loan buys us time to properly scout the market in the Summer, and IF Werner does well, then we've already got our solution at the club!

Will be interesting to see how Richie does from now... As he'll either have Werner as support, or will have to up his game to keep him out of the team... Once Sonny comes back, Richie might well have proved one way or the other whether he's worthy of keeping beyond the end of the season... My hunch is, if there's better out there, Richie might be off in the Summer...

...then there's Dane & Veliz of course!!!!

I'm not cheering against him. All I said is I'm not getting my hopes up and hopefully he proves me wrong.

Unlike other recent signings, Timo has been so bad we have all openly mocked him. It doesn't make you any less of a fan to have hesitations over him. If anything, it makes you delusional if you're all in thinking he's going to be great for us.
