Stadium Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

My main issue with this is that it will lead to tourists and cunts getting up every 15 minutes and going to the bar, thus being a pain in the arse to those around them. It happens at Welsh rugby internationals. It's why I'm glad they introduced a 'no-alcohol' zone in the principality stadium. It meant most people in that section actually stayed in their fucking seats and watched the entire game.

Can easily drink before and after the game, no problem at all. But why would you pay £60 quid (and the rest!) to constantly go get beers!
Good point, I actually hadn't considered this at all (haven't been to Ruby International for years now but do remember it becoming very corporate seats filled with many on socials with little interest in the game, I've been guilty of this one myself with my one and only visit to a cricket match and a couple of horse races). And people get to seats late and leaving early towards the end of the half is infuriating.

I’m completely against drinking in the actual stadium - certainly in the PL. It’ll get messy, people will behave like idiots, and pints will be thrown. No need for it. The game is two lots of 45 minutes. You don’t have to be eating and drinking throughout. It’s all about trying to make more money out of fans and the Americanisation of sport.

it’s a real pain in the arse the constant up and down to let people in and out to get to the bar.

Plus getting up every 10 minutes for another piss.

THIS....

My visits to the new stadium have been marred by this irritation as it is.... Repeated beer runs and piss breaks will only make it significantly worse.

If before, HT and after isn't enough drinking time then go and watch it down the pub instead.

I have just thought though, this will not be a thing if in the new standing section. It's only a massive pain in the arse if you're sat down and having to get up (or the row in front has to get up) every time someone leaves their seat or is late to their seat.

Seating sections will still be a vast majority..... Those that NEED to sit would still be inconvenienced the most.

......All the up n down used to drive my dad (eg) mental when I used to take him.

.....This notion is being peddled on the basis of small clubs missing out on essential revenue.

Fair enough in that respect.

Big clubs won't object by virtue of the same benefits..... At our size of clubs it's only (non-boozy) fans that stand to object.

On the strength of such; I expect it'll happen...... Then we'll have pints being thrown in the air and on the pitch in no time.

How far would one have to go back to find the days where beer on the terraces was allowed?

I think I recall it in the old standing days (plastic bottles of Heineken), but maybe my memory is playing tricks on me....... We might have just sneaked them in at HT.... We used to smoke weed, so beer was presumably do-able.

It would only work for the corporate seats and premium tickets in my opinion. It would make more sense in that respect.
Would be too much of a ball ache in any other part of the stadium.
Except maybe the roof climb and sky walk. Alcohol might liven that up a bit.
:harrylol:

Interesting.

The point you raise about pints being thrown is a good one, because you can easily see it happening, and constantly going to the bar for another one through the entire match is one too.

Perhaps limiting the amount that can be bought at a time might help (but then that means more people in each queue, potentially) and closing the bars 10 minutes before kick off, then opening 10 minutes before half time, or something like that, could limit the amount people get through and the amount they go to the bar?
Pints in the air is self policing, there will be parts where its "liked" but generally a 40 something will tell you it's not acceptable.

Standing is pretty much the same it should see like minded fans together (generally as you get older you move to sitting etc.)

I really can’t remember it ever being allowed. I’m sure it was at some point but if it is again you can guarantee it wont last a while. What if a kid gets hit by a flying beer or a person of a religion who don’t tolerate alcohol gets covered in it? It’s a massive can of worms that I’m not sure clubs will really allow.
