As the article says, many other clubs have a statue, or statues of club legends outside their stadium.Unless we have a 'statue' park, I can understand why there is a policy if no statues. We have been very lucky that we have had some genuine legends that have played for the Club, Jimmy being one of them. However, surely if we are going to put up a statue, has to be Billy Nick first?
Also, wouldn't a statue in the public domain be a target for vandals?
Not a problem usually...I think sky should probably have built some sort of a soundproof studio. It’s a real struggle for the sound people with the noise in the stadium.

:dierpochhug:Hahaha, I've edited my reply to make it less snarky. Unfortunately we've lost the "Give us a hug" pic, so here's Stevie P instead...

Sorry, I didn't read the article, my main point was more that we have so many legends to choose from - apart from names already mentioned - Arthur Rowe, Blanchflower, Mackay, and the rest of the Double side, Hoddle, Stevie, Jennings, and that's just from the top of my head. I get why there is such a policy. As the article says, many other clubs have a statue, or statues of club legends outside their stadium.
As far as I'm aware, none of these are magnets for random acts of vandelism

Sacrilege!Maybe the solution is to do some massive Last-Supper style statue with all the legends sat round a table........![]()
)Blatant nepotism there sneaking hubby into that list.Sorry, I didn't read the article, my main point was more that we have so many legends to choose from - apart from names already mentioned - Arthur Rowe, Blanchflower, Mackay, and the rest of the Double side, Hoddle, Stevie, Jennings, and that's just from the top of my head. My main issue with this is that it will lead to tourists and cunts getting up every 15 minutes and going to the bar, thus being a pain in the arse to those around them. It happens at Welsh rugby internationals. It's why I'm glad they introduced a 'no-alcohol' zone in the principality stadium. It meant most people in that section actually stayed in their fucking seats and watched the entire game.
Can easily drink before and after the game, no problem at all. But why would you pay £60 quid (and the rest!) to constantly go get beers!
And fit the glasses with non-removable Tommee Tippee toddler cup lids so they can’t be thrown in the air by twats when (if) we score.Should just shut the bar whilst the game is on. So you can take your drink up, but has to be purchased pre-match or half time.

I really can’t remember it ever being allowed. I’m sure it was at some point but if it is again you can guarantee it wont last a while. What if a kid gets hit by a flying beer or a person of a religion who don’t tolerate alcohol gets covered in it? It’s a massive can of worms that I’m not sure clubs will really allow.
The beer thing is really as simple as the standing thing for me. Give people a choice. Have some drinking areas, and some dry areas. It's not hard. I do think it'll work better in standing areas too since it's nowhere near as disruptive when somebody walks past.Absolutely this.
Beer was freely available during the screening of the CL final at the new stadium. My 'enjoyment' was constantly spoiled by young men making me stand up so they could get past me to go for a wee wee. And others trying to carry 4 plastic glasses of beer past me, then going for another wee wee, then going to get more beers.
If you want to drink all day, go to the pub ffs.
It’s less disruptive in the standing area surely? Introducing it there will hopefully mean moaning old gits like Flannel sit somewhere elseThe beer thing is really as simple as the standing thing for me. Give people a choice. A compromise could also be that alcohol isn't served during the game, but pints purchased beforehand or at half-time could be taken in. Reduces the in-and-out, but also stops half-time being so mental. The idea that having a 5 minute window mid game realistically once you've queued etc to down a drink is helping behaviour doesn't add up to me.
Very good post that. I hope these suggestions are raised during any consultation. The beer thing is really as simple as the standing thing for me. Give people a choice.
