Match Tottenham Hotspur v Luton. 3pm 30/3/24

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Expectations of this fanbase are crazy through the roof which is weird considering we are in rebuild season, there's gonna be times where we're not meant to enjoy some of the matches but people (not you) expect champagne football very week and dominant scorelines, not sure it works like that.

I disagree. I think they aren’t high enough. We should demand more. Too long at this club they have all had an easy ride. It’s part of the problem and why we’ve struggled for success.

You think there shouldn't be a drop in consistency despite it being the manager's first season and virtually a new team?

Demanding more isn't getting anymore out of the players by the way, I mean it's not as if they're not trying...

We conceded early and were forced to fight all the way to the end of the game. That’s stumbling.

We created a lot but we regularly just make situations hard for ourselves.

That's called not being clinical, stumbling would have been us struggling to create chances and break down stubborn defences like in previous matches, what happened today isn't what's been happening in previous matches.

Spot on, standards set have been too low, so everyone including players etc accept mediocrity.
Exactly what Conte was alluding to when he said, they are used to it here, can't play or handle pressure, it's sadly the truth as much as some don't want to hear it.

Conceding early is stumbling. Missing sitters is stumbling. Chelsea had an extremely high xG today, they still stumbled because their attackers and defenders are fucking bottlers mate.

maybe Timo Werner should learn where the fucking goal is and then we’d be more bloody clinical

Go arrest someone for accidentally littering you bloody pedant.

You said this side has been stumbling for ages, I assumed you meant that this was the type of the performance that we've been putting in it's anything but, we didn't have this many chances in previous matches nor were we this dominant, lazy take.

I don’t think Ange sees it that way at all. He’s been very clear that aiming for 4th is a loser mentality. Aim to be the best. That’s how you win things. Being happy finishing 4th turns you into Tottenham where winning nothing is normal. If our players are happy never winning anything then that says it all.

But he seems to often make a better impact when coming on as a sub than when starting games, which is the point I was making. I'm not really sure what part of my post could be seen as contradictory. Brennan hasn't always looked particularly good when he has started games.
"impact when coming on as a sub"

Why do we need an "impact sub" to get us out of the shite against Luton?

We should be playing our best eleven from the start of the game, not holding one back until we fall goal behind, let's play the best so we can get a goal ahead?

"Impact sub" is a load of bollocks, a futile argument based on hindsight and nothing else.

I'm unsure what this has to do with the debate?

To your point Ange has said that there's a long way to go for this team to improve which is solidifying my point regardless

He also said to expect ups and downs this season as we had lots of work to do and even if we did go on a good run (which we did) we're not the finished article.

Yeah this and also I think it’s about demanding more from the players and the manager and the owners. Why should we settle for not wanting more and not expecting more from them all. Seems a weird mindset not to want to. I don’t get it.
