Match Tottenham Hotspur v. Manchester United - F.A. Cup Semi-Final

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I don't think José won it with his subs or tactics. We simply made mistakes and gave them the game. At 2-1 he just told him team to let us have the ball as he knew all we'll do is make 2 yard passes and take about 20 passes just to get the ball in. We made it fucking easy to defend. Yes maybe poch has had enough opportunities to work out how to set the team to play when teams sit back as the possession game doesnt work as we're too safe and slow. playing like that if had been 2-1 to us yes but not when losing. Then to swap dembele for wanyama?!!!?
Yes Utd got lucky and we gifted the first goal. We had opportunities to go ahead but wasn't clinical enough in the first half.
Second half Utd came out with a different approach and got their goal. We were slow to react and didn't understand what to do to counter Utd's change.

I think it goes further than that, may even involves club hierarchy. The best defender in the PL will not after an injury become an obsolete bench player suddenly.
I think Sanchez who is an excellent defender does show nerves in big matches (mancity, juve and fa cup semi) where Toby would have helped the team much more.
Don't forget we had same scenario with Walker and seems having same with Rose. Wrong. Let them benefit the team even if they are leaving in the summer. I can't see any point of dropping best players. Narrow minded negative costing the team results.

To be fair, in the case of Rose... He's had plenty of chances to restake a claim against weaker opposition and has looked poor-to-average.

On a broader note, surely its reasonable for Poch to question the potential contribution of a player who's distracted/uncommitted?

Its the same principals/virtues that had earned Poch so much praise and led to him overhauling our squad at lightening speed upon arrival.

Few had any qualms when it saw the cancerous influence of Adebayor, Kaboul etc. cut from the club.

Few complained when Andros and Bebtaleb were frozen out and sold for good money...

.....But now it applies to players perceived to be a class above (all players who are part of any collective on-pitch failures perceived by themselves btw!), Poch has an ego problem?

Nah.... Not buying that.

Yeah they started time wasting after 70minutes taking FIVE minuets for a substitute was ridiculous anytime we were gaining momentum they stifled it....should we be more professional and not let it affects us,probably but that's where we came up short the authorities should be hammering that! then again if it were us would I complain probably no,but two wrongs don't make a right....
How did it take up to the 90th minute to book Herrera?
I felt Utd were blatant with their time wasting and Valencias time wasting was the worse case.
It reflects JM beautiful game-hate everything about him.

Don't think the issue yesterday was Poch or the performance. It's in the head of the players by now.

The really frustrating thing about all this shit is that this current team is good enough to win titles and even strong enough to win the PL. Heads seem to fall right before the finish line.

And I believe the win at Chelsea made us overconfident.

Everyone but me, I don't have a game or an agenda, I simply replied to your post, because of the way it read.
My complaint is about the (content of) post, not the poster.
If that's what you are inferring.
No one cares Mick, the team is what’s being discussed this wk end, and it’s been really interesting and mostly civil considering emotions are running so high.

You know where the ignore button is.

Once I saw Vorm in the team I was almost certain Spurs would go out.

Whatever Lloris's faults are, he has saved Tottenham many times also. Both United goals Vorm was at fault, the first one he just watched as he GUESSED the wrong way. The ball was right next to him and a soft header, most goalies would save that.

The second Ben Davis turned his back and it went through his legs but down the middle of the goal - where was the keeper?

Yes, Dembele made a mistake also in teh first one, and several players didn't have a good game, but neither did many of Utd's. In the end Tottenham scored a properly crafted goal while Utd's were from defensive errors and bad goalkeeping.

I've never rated Vorm when he was at Swansea and Pochettino only chose his reserve keeper because he played in the early rounds against the likes of Rochdale and when Spurs were in the Champions League.

Goalkeeper is the most important position in the team, if you are sentimental in the semi-final of the FA Cup then you are too soft! Poch is soft, I'm afraid, but he is a good manager otherwise. That is why he never defends his players against media abuse and never calls out referees and a well known campaign against Spurs.

Other teams can dive and get freekicks/penalties, Spurs never get a free kick for a dive and don't get one when they are fouled most of the time.

But all aside, the goalkeeper issue cost Tottenham and when I saw the team I knew Spurs were out!

It just make you wonder when you get the so called "big teams" to play against you just don't get the rub of the green! And there's a definate love affair with the media,F.A with Wenger & Mourinho according them football didn't exsist before they rocked up,bollocks

Unfortunatley, teams of ‘winners’ will know what it takes to grind out results on the big stage whether we like that style or not. It all comes from the experience of winning things. So bloody frustrating.

Maybe we need to frustrate teams a little more. Who knows. But its now been proved in these games that our lovely flowing football is not always going to be enough to get over the line.
