I know we should obviously be taking this seriously going forward, but this is maybe one we can rotate a little bit more at home, against a much weaker opponent I don't mind it as much with United on the weekend.
EL Squad List A: Goalkeepers
Guglielmo Vicario, Fraser Forster, Brandon Austin, Alfie Whiteman Defenders
Radu Drăgușin, Destiny Udogie, Cristian Romero, Pedro Porro, Ben Davies, Micky van de Ven Midfielders
Yves Bissouma, James Maddison, Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall, Dejan Kulusevski, Brennan Johnson, Wilson Odobert, Pape Sarr, Rodrigo Bentancur Forwards
Son Heung-min, Richarlison, Timo Werner, Dominic Solanke
We can also name U21 academy players on List B which covers players like Moore, Lankshear, Dorrington, Hall etc.
Romero is suspended after getting sent off 2 years ago in the CL.
Djed left out of the squad so won't be eligible to play.
Last 2 times we faced Qarabag in 2015 in the Europa League group stage:
Interestingly, Qarabag still have the same manager, Gurban Gurbanov, who has been with them since 2008, the 2nd longest-serving manager still in charge with only Heidenheim's manager having been in charge longer!
Qarabağ (AZE)
UEFA coefficient ranking: 57 How they qualified: Champions League play-offs (L0-5agg vs GNK Dinamo) Last season: Champions League second qualifying round, Europa League round of 16 (L4-5agg vs Leverkusen) Best UEFA Cup/Europa League performance: Round of 16 (2023/24)
Tottenham (ENG)
UEFA coefficient ranking: 34 How they qualified: Fifth in English Premier League Last season: Did not feature in UEFA club competition Best UEFA Cup/Europa League performance: Winners (1971/72, 1983/84)
I'm GENUINELY excited for our UEFA Cup campaign! (YES UEFA Cup!)
Go go into a competition we actually have a chance of not only doing well in, but WINNING feels me with nervous anticipation.
Yes PL, yes qualifying for CL, but we're not winning either of those any time soon.
We had our moment in 2019 and let it pass us by... Those opportunities won't come along again too often, if ever.
THAT was our sliding doors moment, and probably would've changed the landscape of everything that's happened since!
But it didn't, and we've moved on.
The UEFA/ Europa League probably offers us a better opportunity of silverware than say either Domestic Cup, simply cos Man City, Woolwich, Liverpool and Chelsea are nowhere near it...

The history of where the club is from is quite interesting. Since we last played them, the area has returned to Azerbaijani control and the city may be rebuilt. Was a pile of old rubble in 2015 under Armenian control.

Romero suspended and 6 other changes?
I will have more of a think about this team.
Ange will deffo start Forster, Werner and Dragusin.
Odds on to start Gray and Bergvall as well.
I think anyone who started Coventry and Brentford should get a rest this week before United. So I would be looking at resting Solanke, Udogie and Bentancur anyway just to manage the minute load. Makes sense to give Bissouma this game to get him up to match sharpness. I would go for something like below:
Vicario
Gray Dragusin VDV Davies
Sarr Bissouma Bergval
Johnson Son Moore
Coventry showed our second string is quite poor so these games will be hard for Ange , does he keep the big guns on the bench and only play them if needed?
In an ideal world, all 3 of Bissouma, Son and BJ can be taken off on 60 mins. Bentancur, Porro, Maddison, Kulusevski and Solanke will all be on the bench as options if needed
