The main thing that is hampering us at the moment is our wide forwards are nowhere near technically good enough to move the ball quickly and effectively against low blocks. Johnson and Werner can’t do it. Sonny stuggles with his back to goal. Not sure on Solanke yet, although he clearly works hard. Forget about Richie, he’s done.
With Kulu we’ve shown excellent moments in transition. I think we’d be generally better if we dropped our play by about 20 yards.
I know a lot of this is down to how teams set up against us, but finding a way for draw sides out might help us more, rather than just hammering at the door and getting stung on the counter.
Villa will be a real challenge as Emery is a canny bugger and will want us to push up as high as possible.
