don't like the thought of being owned by an entertainment company

Why?

at least they have the objective of growing the club and making money - better than a billionaire just trying to raise their profile to gain political influence imo

just have a bad gut feeling about it.

think we'll lose our identity and become a slave to the american style 'franchise' bollocks, 39th premier league games in dubai - signing washed up ex pro's like Beckham on loan just to rake in some extra cash. think it'll be the beginning of the end tbh

btw im not interested in an abramovich type either

We've always been the club to lead the way in the commercial aspect of the game - it's as much a part of our history as push and run and glory, glory nights.

what does that have to do with anything ?

maximizing our revenue through astute sponsorship deals does not mean that having an Entertainment Company own our club is a good deal.

You're fearing we'll become something the club has always aspired to be - throughout history we were always the club with the most money, that only changed in the mid 90's.

Just meant any company, even a brand name, would seek to maximise profit and naming rights is a biggie.

Even City's owners with a bottom less pit of resources have sold the naming rights of the ground

But didn't they basically sell the naming rights to themselves as a way to get around the Fair Play financial restrictions?

I think that may have been the case. Basically, from what I have seen, UEFA have accounted for related companies buying the naming rights to a ground, and have made sure that teams can't get around the Fair Play rules by just doing ridiculous deals for naming rights and sponsorship from associate companies.

Presumably Man City just got in early on this as there are so many years before the rules applied.

There has been talk of AEG ever since they teamed with us for the Olympic Stadium bid, and the bid to bring Beckham in on loan. If we have close connections with them, then it makes logical sense.

I'm not sure about the AEG stadium though. Don't AEG own the Millenium Dome, which is named the 02 Arena? so presumably they would buy the club and build the stadium, then sell the naming rights.

hmmm.... we got to think outside the box.

how about the fighting cocksters all chip in, establish a company called "white hart lane", then we buy the naming rights to the stadium?

either that, or the barmy "tottenham ultras" offer to assassinate the owners of whichever multi-national that comes along, unless they change their company name to "white hart lane", before they buy the rights.

bribery or blackmail... that's how big business works.

Or we could approach an American drinks company and hey presto The Fighting Cock Stadium!!!

good shout! could live with that...

Man city only sold theirs to try and come as close to working within the financial fair play rules...
Hence the fucking ridiculously over paid 400 mill deal.
That club will be 100 mill in the red every year, their fan base can't cover the massive wages never mind the big signings they make year in year out

we have been linked with them for a while since the stadium plans, so always assumed there would be some close ties in the future,

i would rather a decent company than a crazed egotistical rich bloke
Plastic Spurs fan Bill Simmons has a triumphant, veiny one over AEG, as they are working to bring an NFL team to LA. Everything good about live sports in LA (Staples Center, basically, since I doubt Simmons would ever go to the Home Depot Center) he gushingly hangs on AEG's tumescent member.

So if one listens to his podcasts (er…), one may be rather chuffed about this.
I'm not really sure what this is. I wouldn't go to the Home Depot Center unless Spurs or the USMNT was playing there either. The MLS is just sooo boring.

Btw, if it's a case of if you can't beat them, join them - which It is becoming, then I'd sooner see us do what's required than be left behind. And AEG as opposed to a multi-billionaires toy would be acceptable to me. Shame it's come to this though...

the beginning of the end happened a long time ago

all things considered I think we could do alot worse than this especially if Levy stayed on as chairman, from the outside looking in they seem a very well run profitable company not some rich kids play thing

this is a link to one of the main men in AEG a subsidary of Anschutz Company he's worth 7 billion

Wouldn't mind this AEG takeover (if it happens!) one bit. As I see it, you either change with the game or get left behind. And the latter is not an option.

Better than being a rich mans toy.

And as far as the naming rights go, lets just hope we get a decent name. Cause one way or another it will happen.

Oh and who gives a fuck what they name the stadium.

so, as a member of the faculty, u wouldn't have a problem if cumberland university of northern tennessee showed an interest?
 Well retracted I guess.

In the NFL the NYC teams built a new stadium and everyone just continues to call it the same name as the old one despite the corporately sponsored official name. I always just assumed we would all treat the new stadium the same way. That was more of my point.

i know it was. i was just playing, dr!

but sadly, when the name "white hart lane" goes, it goes... 'cos u can becha bottom dollar that all the mainstream media whores and presstitutes will go along with it...

It's possible, but then again, you only ever hear 'the emirates stadium', not whatever it's actually called. You don't hear City of Manchester Stadium anymore either, even though the Etihad deal happened a while after it was built.

As for AEG, I wouldn't be opposed to it if it helped with the NDP and we kept being run in pretty much the same way.
