He has so far missed:
1) a easy chance against Everton
2) a easy and very easy chance vs palace
3) a good chance vs sunderland
4) a easy chance tonight

His hold up play and general play is good but it is alarming the amount of chances he's missing and i don't think people are looking too deep into it as you suggest.

I think 1 is disrespectful to Stekelenberg who is also paid a hefty sum to keep shots out of his goal.
