Match Tottenham v wet spam thundercunts

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I think Potch will go with Adebayor up front against West Ham - Erikson, Lamela and Lennon tucked behind them with Capoue and Holtby behind then. No idea what our back 4 will be but presume Vertonghen will be in it. After that - who knows. Oh - and Lloris is goal.

Sandro has been making 20 mins cameos and Capoue wasn't even in the squad yesterday. Pochettino said the WC players weren't ready for the Schalke game, so they're probably not ready for a league start next weekend. Who would you pick?
I don't have a problem with Bentaleb or Holtby playing but definitely not together as our base. Capoue should be fit for the game. Apparently just rested as a precaution because of a little knock in training.
I'd pick Capoue and Bentaleb. Holtby is still too unreliable for important games to play deep IMO both defensively and in terms of not losing the ball in dangerous areas.

If Capoue is ready I'd pick him and Holtby, based on pre-season form.

I wonder what the fitness of Dembele, Vertonghen et al is like. They went out of the WC in early July, even with 2weeks off they should still have 3-4 weeks training under their belts.

Personally I'd go for Holtby over Bentaleb as I feel Holtby is better at getting the ball forward either carrying it or passing it, Bentaleb still has a propensity to play a suicide ball at some point every game.

I have to disagree on all them points bro.
Bentaleb has better ball retention - passing stats will show that - and that is important when playing deep. He can also drive with the ball whereas Holtby can't because he doesn't have pace - unless he's unchallenged and has time and space.
I'd also say that Holtby is way more likely to play a suicide ball than Bentaleb, Bentaleb without a doubt has better short range and one touch passing imo.

I don't think Bentaleb is that much quicker than Holtby and I believe Holtby to be the smarter player which helps him when he doesn't have the time or space which will be a problem for both players in the midfield against Wet Spam.

I still reckon Bentaleb plays more suicide balls than Holtby ;) but in fairness, I saw more of Bentaleb than Holtby at the tail end of last season so his performances are fresher in the memory.

If Holtby plays it has to be as an AM. He needs to spending his energy attacking. If he does both, he's fucked after 40 mins.

After everything I've seen this would be my lineup:

----------------Lloris---------------
walker--Kaboul--vert--Benj
-----sandro-------capoue------
---Lamela---ade---eriksen---
-----------------Kane----------------

But I would not cry if dembele, Paulinho, bentaleb, Chadli and Holtby were all amongst that lot in the attacking spots. The first 3 can handle the covering spots too.

I hope the football gods think we suffered enough last year and we get off to a winning start. It would be truly galling to lose against a team and manager that is so fuc....mucked up!
