We go again. In the Europa League this time.

Our opponents for the night are Elfsborg. The 6 time Swedish champions are based in the city of Borås, and are currently coached by Oscar Hiljemark. A 32 year old who's managing career started in 2023. His peak as a player was with PSV and captaining the Sweden team that won the 2015 U21 euros.

Elfsborg are currently playing pre-season but did beat Nice 1-0 at home in the last round. And have taken some heavy scalps.

I have no idea how this one will go.

Elfsborg are also the last ever winners of the Intertoto cup.

A point might be enough but a win guarantees us passage into the round if 16. With our current injuries and win ratio we want to avoid extra games.

Our squad v Hoffenheim :

Austin, Pedro Porro, Dragusin, Davies, Gray, Bergvall, Bentancur, Maddison (Olusesi 89), Kulusevski, Richarlison (Moore 56), Son (c) (Lankshear 79).
Substitutes (not used): Forster, Whiteman, Hardy, Cassanova, Ajayi.

Possibly add in to that squad 3 players, hopefully allows Ange to rotate stating line up a little :
- Romero return from injury - and if so maybe plat him for 45 mins.
- Sarr
- Bissouma

After that, maybe a couple more players come into the squad for Brentford at the weekend.

If we win or otherwise get through to the round of 16 , our game schedule in mid February is :

Sunday 9 Feb v Aston Viila
Sunday 16 Feb v ManU
Saturday 22 Feb v Ipswich

So 2 weeks with no midweek games ....... and a chance to give the whole team two successive weeks where they have a 7 day break which will re-invigorate the players a bit. Will be big

If we don't get through to last 16, the 2 mid weeks are when the ply of matches woulld be scheduled - so no breaks !

Hopefully that motivates the players to win !

Can't trust that a point will be enough........ 3 points are a must.

Crunch game in that respect.

....................Ergo; we'll fuck it up. :dawsonmean:
