Match Tottenham vs Forest Monday 21 April 8pm

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Forest have done incredibly well to be where they are, but the style of play works against teams who want to attack. You saw Everton match them up in their set up, and Everton beat them as they couldn't break the low block.

It works now, but those kind of systems always get worked out. It's inevitable.

(Alisdair Gold asking the question)
Q: Were you tempted to make your subs earlier as the game was turning?

A: Yeah I could have. But... all these things... are totally irrelevant to me. Substitutions and all those kind of things. If you're not competitive, it doesn't matter what you do, you're not going to get rewards, you don't deserve to win. We didn't deserve on our second-half performance, irrespective of subs or anything else, to get something out of the game. But I think if you do get something out of the game, you're falsely rewarded and I don't want to get falsely rewarded.
I think that's one of the daftest things I've heard him say. So what if we get awarded a penalty that shouldn't have been and it results in us winning the game is he gonna kick up a stink and say no I don't want the 3 points?! 🤣 such a dumb prick

So the players get a free ride cos they don’t like Ange , is that what people are saying ? This is my most disliked spurs team that I can remember , they’ve done the bare minimum this season to win games . Since the new year they aren’t even doing that , I don’t care if you dislike the manager you have self pride and pride in wearing the shirt , unless the team we play are worse than us , we are incapable of winning a football match . I’d happily sell 90% of this squad .
I agree. 90% of our squad are just not premium quality. They are a mix of under 23 team, journeymen and wannabe/maybes.

And yet they turn up day in day out at facilities as good as Real Madrid’s. They have zero pressure from within the club to succeed and will never need to work a day in their future lives. There is no jeopardy.

That’s ultimately why they are not being blamed as much as Ange, The players are not picking themselves and choosing to be this inept. They just are.

17th looms and there is zero embarrassment.

It’s pretty sickening overall. But you buy players from teams in and around 17th, you tend to end up 17th.

The Odebert cross that no one followed for an easy tap in? The missed header on the far post between Richy/ Sarr about 2 yards with the goal open ?
Two more off the top of my head.
They dug in and played their game only because our keeper gifted them (especially the 2nd goal, unforgivable)
Are you seriously using a cross to literally nobody as a good chance?
Yesterday was absolutely endemic of the Ange Era. Lots of the ball, lots of sniffs at goal, but wide open at the back and easy to score against and easy to defend against.

Just in our row to the left of us were 6 empty seats throughout the game. I’ve never seen the new stadium this empty in a standard match.

Maybe it was Easter , maybe it was people just can’t be arsed anymore & can’t sell their tickets or didn’t bother to list them. I don’t know

I remember Woollich doing something similar with publicizing attendances

Last night was not a crap performance as many are claiming and just linking it to our poor season as others are does not cover what happened. We let in 2 goals from set pieces which were poorly defended but should have been saved.
We then faced the most defensive low block from a top 10 side that apart from our failure to put the ball in the net we attacked with purpose. Many times recently when faced with a low block we just never looked like scoring but despite the fact the front 3 had never played together before and we rested some players we had a goal kicked off the line and brought out some good GK saves. Our Xgoal was better than Forests. Previously we had no shots on target in the first half but yesterday 22 shots and 6 on target.
Too many times this season in defeat we got what we deserved but yesterday we deserved better. It is just too easy to jump on the anti Levy or anti Ange bandwagon and not look at what really happened.
This 100%

He does struggle to adapt, you're right. Yesterday however wasn't down to that. 2 sloppy mistakes from Vic caused us to lose. We created the chances and had the big opportunities. Poor finishing let us down.
We played the usual game of trying to overwhelm the opponent with possession.
Forest are very good at dealing with that. We lost because, as always, we weren't prepared for them to come at us and get a few goals. We were all at sea for 20 minutes. They should have had 3 or 4. 1 marginal offside and a couple of other chances all before we clicked into gear.
They also clearly decided 2 was enough and just let us play keep ball like so many do. They kept us where they wanted us. They restricted us to the chances they knew they could defend. It's literally like a big bloke holding an angry kid back by his forehead. We've seen Newcastle do it. Woolwich do it. Leicester do it twice. Wolves do it multiple times. And so on and so forth.

We try to do silly little passes around our own back 4 to tempt these teams out, but more often than not, all it really does is play ourselves into actual trouble rather than creating space and opportunities.
This is because on the rare occasion a team presses our back four and we beat that press, we then take 47 passes to get it into the final 3rd and allow them to get back and reset.
It's just the same old shit. All the time.

Know what you mean. Our star man VDV should have stopped Woods header but no other real option there. Would rather have Kevin than Romero, not half as good as he thinks he is. Their boys, particularly Milenkovic, showed us what genuine defenders should look like.
I remember we were linked to him quite a bit a few years back, lots of dissenting voices because he wasn't quick enough, and didn't have the technical ability to play Trequerista to a Ballon D'Or winning standard or something...

Thing is, he does seem to know how to defend, which is quite useful for a centre back.

I thought WE were supposed to 'want to attack'??

We've been worked out for over a year... And we don't play 'low block'...

I just don't get us!

We didn’t look dangerous last night at all. Just sporadic moments that lacked quality. hopeful balls into the box, crosses from areas that are easier to defend against. How often do we get round the back of teams.

We didn’t dominate either. We just let the game drift with meaningless possession, until the last 15 minutes when Bergvall came on and injected some energy and purpose into moving the ball.

obviously awful again out of possession

Wasn’t that same as how we played v EF dug in. They missed some good chances and we only scored through a reckless challenge by the goalie.
They missed one good chance that Micky saved us with a last ditch tackle the other two were shots that rolled to Vic.
We hit the post had one clawed off the line at the same time lost our main playmaker through that reckless keeper tackle. Are you saying Frankfurt deserved something and we deserved nothing yesterday from what you stated as the same performance?

Forest have the lowest time of possession in the PL for (i think) twenty odd years.

39.3% possession this season.

They don't need the ball, it's a fallacy that keep ball wins games. Goals and defence wins Leagues, Trophies and Championships.

We conceded 1.08 minutes into the Wolves game and 4.03 tonight.

We haven't controlled any game this season.
Spot on this is still part of the Messi Pep derangment syndrome. An even more contentious bit of lore is that keeping the ball makes you an 'exciting' team. It doesn't it's about what you do with the ball and how you're players move off if when you do that's exciting.

Tel should have been in on the far post like how we scored quite a few of our goals. We had 17 accurate crosses they had one from which they scored.
I’m disappointed and frustrated with this season as most but last nights performance was better than most. If you choose not to agree so be it
