Where do we finish in this comp?

The idea that the league should be a priority over this competition, at this juncture especially, is absurd.

There's practically no chance we can qualify for the CL via the league. The EL can provide ±£20M in additional winnings, a CL spot, and a little thing called a trophy.

Entering the Champions League as champions of something instead of the 4th loser of the PL is a hell of a lot more appealing.

I don’t get why people think we need to choose which one to prioritize?

We are in 2 competitions, there’s no reason the players can’t stay fresh

Nobody is suggesting we prioritise PL over EL.

The benefits of winning EL are obvious. Crashing out in semi finals or otherwise not winning give some happy memories ..... but no europe next season etc

With the squad we should have back fir in about 2 weeks we should be able to move up PL whilst winning as much as we can in PL, rotating the 20 odd players we have, so we have a potential alternate way back into europe next season if we di not win EL.

BTW moneywise, if we go on to win EL from here we earn about an extra 20m euros or circa £16.5m - each improved place in PL is worth £3m so improving by more than 5 places gives us more cash ! Sad but true ! Spurs need to be in Europe - if we win EL everything good !
We'd have to outperform Newcastle and 4 other clubs by 12 points in 13 matches to improve by 5 places, however, which won't happen.

Best we'll realistically do is 8th, but my money is on 9th.

Agree with that part

But Newcastle at present have got 41 points from 25 games, 1.64 points per game.

With a full team back we could move higher, undoubtedly require luck, but so will winning EL. And not winning EL and finishing in bottom half of table is not on my agenda. Hence not making a bet on winning EL only

This is true, but the point is in the weeks when there is an inevitable selection conflict the EL should be the priority.

Training should focus primarily on tactics for the EL matches, etc.

I was thinking about this and actually it could be the best of both worlds for Sonny.

He really doesn't look up to starting games in the PL with that intensity but he has looked great in the EL. Those weeks where we have 2 games in a week, there is an opportunity to rest Sonny for EL and at the same time slowly start bedding in Odobert as the starting LWF for the PL.

That is very generous... I think we will finish around 12th to 14th realistically. We
We ain't finishing in a European place.

The most optimistic, high on drugs, drunk Spurs fan who's second name is Levy, would be hard pressed to see enough points here to catch Newcastle, Fulham or Brighton. All three of them are not dropping nine points in thirteen games, and nothing suggests that that is remotely likely.

My best bet is a 23 point haul from that lot giving us 53pts? That got the Pikey's to ninth last season, eighth place got 60pts, and fifth (us) 66pts

Just not going to happen.
