I keep thinking they are FC Basel.
Get Dom, Romero, VdV back and I think we have huge chance.
League position means next to nothing in comparison. Rest players as needed in PL games. Attack this competition.

FC Basel once a decent side but now struggling in Swiss top league I think
They're second and just one point behind the leaders according to my search engine.
We do need to get into europe next season - players join to play and earn big salaries which european competition delivers.
If we win EL we get CL next year which is great - but as runners up no european competition assured.
PL will get 5 CL slots next season (6 if either Spurs or ManU wins EL and I think if an English club wins CL) so 6th and 7th will get EL, so europe via PL still reachable.
So we need to use the squad wisely to finish as well as we can in both EL and PL - if we get Solanke, VDV, Romero and even Richarlison back within next few weeks we have the squad to do that. Be good to win EL and get back into top 6 of PL for example
We likely won't play a match until the SF at least, but final most likely, which we wouldn't be favored in.All of this talk about that we are going to just waltz to a final is having me like this:
Not saying that we shouldn't go in with the mentality that we can win this.
But there's a difference between confidence and arrogance that we tend to have an issue with balancing.
That said, this squad and manager lost to Ipswich when fully healthy - it's still hard to see us winning.
But, I live in hope. We couldn't have asked for a better bracket, I don't think.

I think the league is done. We'd need to win nearly all our games to get back into the top 6! Go full strenght in Europe and rotate in the league has to be the play.
The worst case scenario isn't that bad. We'll cruise top 4 next year without Europe

Not so. Newcastle in 7th has averaged 1.64 points per game to get to 41 points.
Spurs are 11 points behind with 13 games left to play. So mathematically still very achievable, and foolish to give up on PL until we are much deeper into EL
So atm, plenty to play for, just a question of rotating the squad we have available (and by 2nd leg v AZ it sounds as it we have all but Dragusin back)
