Football is now fucked.

You have to wonder if the powers that be are really interested in free flowing exciting football or not. There must be some seriuosly big brown envelopes passed on by those that may want to influence VAR decisions.

Especially as Russia is the first World Cup to use it. Still, it's already a write off with Southgate in charge. Let the Russians win it, discredit VAR and then move on

Im glad it will be used in the World Cup........its going to be the worst tournament in history. Soldiers pretending to be hooligans kicking the shit out of families off the pitch, and VfARce turning matches into NFL bore fests on it.

Ive got a feeling the PL will fuck it off altogether after

Beef I have with it is the that VAR takes is not added on at the end of the half
in that Liverpool V WBA match it was 8 mins lost due to VAR but the ref only added 5 mins
in our game V the dale, the disallowed goal, the penalty, the penalty kick, the goals, then the second half goals & subs, each goal or goal incident has to be checked more time needs adding on at the end of each half

I think the commentators for the Rochdale game said 8 minutes in total were added to injury time to account for VAR, but that the actual time spent waiting was 15. So anyone who went to that match was short-changed by 7 minutes.

Average that out over the course of a season and you’re basically losing 4-5 games worth of actual football.

And that is different from celebrating a goal only to then see the flag up for offsides how?
Because you are not waiting 60 seconds for a flag, it’s instant.
If you regularly go to matches, surely you understand what Poch was referring to when he spoke of the emotion.
When your team scores a 93rd minute winner/equaliser against an arch enemy you gave to wait around for confirmation???????
It will kill football as we know it.
Maybe not so much for people sitting next n their living room/pub.....

It’s football not American football. Why change and ruin the game? For what? For tv companies to show certain angles to a ref to try and influence his decision Make it more interesting for the bookies pockets, the big 4?

Anyone at the West Ham game last season with the two really late goals?
Remember the scenes?
That’s why I love spurs and football
Now think about if VAR was used?

Not the same....
Not the same at all, would have been a much poorer experience. Take that from football and it’s only a shadow of what it was, and for what?

In its current form, there wont be any need for protests......people will literally stop going to games and clubs will be forced to turn against it.

Do they care?
Atmosphere at games often isn’t great, what do they do about it? - they turn up the volume onthe pitch side microphones to fool the tv audience. Most money comes from tv, least affected by VAR is tv audience and betting.

True but football is nothing without an audience.....its not about corperates or fairweathers taking real fans places in the stands this time.

The game will be barely watchable for many, and that wont change on tv. Once the numbers dwindle for Sky and Viasat etc etc etc, it will be curtains for VAR.

Mind you, Im talking about in its current farcical state. I havent seen it in Italy, but many seem to think it works.

The clubs will definitely care. TV companies perhaps not so much, but like Sammy says it’s nothing without an audience.

I heard that Italian fans cheer goals differently, they have a sustained roar which peaks when the decision is given...sounds like fun actually...

Perhaps they've reached too far too quickly.

Using it only for penalty decisions and red cards would be a decent place to start, as the game has stopped there regardless.

But the most important thing to do is to make sure the VAR understands that if they can't see a clear reason to overturn the referee's original decision within, say, 20 seconds, then just go with the original decision. If it takes longer than that then it's not a clear and obvious error, is it.
